Hello all , has anyone found a suitable cruise control/throttle lock for an 06 T100. I'm going touring and wouldn't mind the option. not an electrical version , a simple version is fine.

cheers michael

For about 7 months I've been using the BrakeAway. They make one just for the bonnie and it works great. Makes hwy riding much easier. It is very easy to put on and off, plus just hitting the front brake turns it off automatically. Well worth the money.

Hi I read the post about the breakaway cruise control and was really interested in getting one as I do a heck of a lot of European touring in summer.
However they don't ship to the UK.
The alternative dealer site they offer as a link page for UK shipping Doesn't exist ( www.CruiserCustomizing.com ), however it does show several more brakeaway models for different bikes.
The problem I have is that the reference numbers for the parts don't cross reference. So I was wondering if anyone could help me work out which one I need.

Thanks Jon (UK)

The "THROTTLE ROCKER" IS SO EASY TO PUT ON AND TAKE OFF AND WORKS GREAT...the other stuff is too complicated at $10.00 it is cheap and can be switched from one bike to another in 2 seconds...I only own one but have used it on alot of bikes...I recommend it...a no brainer. If you get one and don't like it I'll buy it from you...and no I don't sell them nor do I work for them but I am sold on them

I've heard a lot of good about the Throttle Rocker and I bought one before getting the BrakeAway. I didn't like the Rocker at all, takes some getting used to, but that's just me. Another thing I didn't like about the Rocker is your hand still has to stay on the throttle. With the brakeaway I can also let my right arm just hang at times and rest for a bit.

True you do need to rest your hand on the Throttle Rocker but it is more relaxing than gripping mile after mile but not as good as letting you arm hang with out touching the throttle... so you are correct that is one disadvantage of the Throttle rocker you do need to have a hand on it BUT
I had an unfortunate accident last year in 2006 when a guy ran a red light and knocked me off my bike and my throttle's cruise control locked on...my bike kept going for two blocks at 55 mph and went head on into an oncomming car...all while I watched two blocks away...the headon crash totalled my bike and also the car and THANKFULLY no one was hurt...not even me... a lady who witnessed the accident said "you have to have an angel watching you to have survived that"...I think I do...anyway that bike was a Harley Road King and after I totalled that I started looking at Triumphs...so here I am...I love that Thruxton...throttles that can lock on by themselves can cause trouble at times like it did for me that time...now I think having a throttle that shuts down when you let go of the grip can be a good thing both have their advantages...
just curious how much does the locking type cost?

ocguyocguy,

Wow. Very happy you are ok after all that. Yeah, there are circumstances that can burn you. I never use my throttle lock riding on city streets and to lock the BrakeAway takes a direct push with the right thumb only when the thumb is moved to the left of the throttle.

They run about $200 for the BrakeAway. Not cheap but neither is the product value.

Be safe.

Wow, that BrakeAway is a beautiful product, but 2 bills? Are they high?
High as in cost? If a business comes out with a product superior to everyone else, they deserve to make a reasonable profit. Looking at the BrakeAway in detail and function, I don't feel like I got ripped off in any way.

High on a substance? Who else makes what they make and is asking a much lower price? Who else came up with such a functional and safe design?

As I get older, I put more emphasis on safety and for good reason. If spending less for a throttle lock that does not come off automatically for emergency braking makes you feel comfortable, then IMO, YOU are more valuable than that.
