Defintely retro although not like old Bonnevilles. This guy even blacked out the top of his carbs. A lot of attention but like Trim said the dent is still a dent. And check out where the right side passenger peg mounts were hacked off, still raw metal not a lick of paint. Besides my nit-picky self it does look very clean and I like the look way much.

I'm giving serious thought to rerouting all the wires that currently reside inside the headlight and doing something similar to what these folks did, but I want to use a headlight like this:

It's similar to the stock unit, but the bucket is much shallower. I'd have to make new headlight brackets for it. The whole goal being to suck the headlight in towards the forks as much as possible to make the front end cleaner. I think most of those wires could be relocated from the headlight to under the gas tank, but it'd be a job...

At least when I removed my rear pegs I found bolts to fit the holes and sprayed them black to match the bike. I guess i am a member of this forum because my AI is plugged :-D

I`m so used to not seeing my peg brackets that I didn`t even notice.I tapped in some 7/16" nuts and welded them in to ease future bracketry.
BTW,did you win those Bubs?I almost bid on them until I saw your AKA.

Rod,

Someone outbid me. I have a friend with a black running......now get this, STOCK pipes. I was hoping to hook him up, if he didn't want hooking up I would have maybe powdered em black. Someone got those pipes for $191 and some change. Thanks a steal even though there was some scratches.

Cutting and welding nuts in to keepyour options open......very wise indeed. I would never consider hacking my frame until this came up. Then again I could always reweld.....oh God no, this opens up countless other mods...............

Definitely an interesting custom, appreciate seeing it and getting my
gears turned a bit.. IMHO I think the earless headlight is fascinating...
although it seems as if it's hanging too far out off the forks, needs to be drastically
tucked in, likewise speedo gauge is up too high... gotta keep this stuff
tight, attention needs to be paid not just to the part and how it fits but
also to the positive and negative shapes, spaces and silhouettes created by the placement of a part... the headlamp is the "eye' of the bike, it oughta be beautiful and beautifully, purposefully located... that's why some of those bobbers look so incredibly good, and others just look like a collection of parts...

Coupla pics, one with headlight moved inward, to compare...

Cheers,

D9
