I'm thinking of doing a little distance riding with my Scrambler, but I need a more comfortable seat first. Is the solo seat really more comfortable than the stock seat? They look like they'd be about the same to me. Does anybody have any experiance with the gel seat or a sixty8 seat?

Add an Alaska Leather sheepskin seat cover to your saddle and experience MUCH improved comfort for the long haul.

I believe that I've actually read that people find the Scrambler seat to be vastly more comfortable than the factory saddle. People seem to say that the 68 line of saddles are more comfortable than factory too.

I am thinking about getting a sheepskin seat cover for my Scrambler. I actually spoke with a very nice gal at Alaska Leather about how I would be able to cover the entire seat and the backrest on mine. I was thinking about buying an entire pelt and then having my brother in law, who does custom car interiors (mainly leather), make me a custom cover for the seat and backrest. This is in keeping with my plan to add a luggage rack and do some long weekend trips with my wife this summer. My current Scrambler seat isn't very comfortable for longer trips, and I actually have the gel seat already, but it's really not super comfortable for longer trips.

Here's Alaska Leather's website:

The nice gal at Alaska Leather told me that there's another company which she recommends that makes custom sheepskin covers with exact fit for many kinds of motorcycle seats. Alaska Leather makes butt pads which strap on and are very reasonably priced, so that's another option, but I think I want to go with the custom look as I want to cover my backrest as well.

The name of the other company which makes custom seat covers is hartco seats. For anyone interested their website is listed below:

I put a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady on my scrambler. I fit perfectly and is very comfortable. I looks good on the bike as well, still retains the classic look. I put it on primarily because it has the removeable back rest which is easy to take off for solo riding.

I think there is no comparison between the stock Scrambler seat and the solo seat. I could barely ride for half an hour on the stock seat and can ride 500 mile days with no problem on the solo seat.

Unfortunately, this comes with the usual disclaimer: results may vary from backside to backside.

I've done 300+ mile days on both and my ass hurt regardless of the saddle. I couldn't really tell any difference in comfort. What I'd really like is a custom Corbin built around the Triumph solo so I wouldn't loose the small-but-useful luggage rack.

I've found the Airhawk pad by Roho of great use on many long distance rides. It is a multi-celled air pad like used for those who are bed ridden, but a pad specifically made for motorcycles. I've use it on rides up to 13,000 miles in 18 days on my Sprint ST.

I second the solo seat option. It is much nicer. I also have Sheepskin I got from Aerostich. I am hoping it will be nice and comfy for my NJ to La to Tn back to NJ that I'm doing in April/May. We'll see. The plus of the sheepskin pad is the removability.
