Well, I have been away from the Triumph fold a long time, since my 2005 Sprint... and I stupidly (?) walked into a Triumph dealer today and found a great deal on an R... and I lusted immediately. Looking at $12,500 for it (plus tax, title). Thoughts? Any major concerns on this bike (I have read the threads on the first page here, I don't see anything terribly alarming). Any reasons to feel I NEED the extended warranty?

I’ve never purchased an extended warranty for a vehicle, but that’s me.
The Thruxton is a beautiful bike, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Good luck. And be sure to post pics if you get it!

Need an extended warranty, no. I see you have a GS and quite a few BMW owners keep their bikes longer than usual like me. I prefer to have an extended warranty for bikes that I plan to keep more than four years.

If you change your mind and decide to sell the bike an extended warranty adds value to the bike just like a documented maintenance history.

You'll spend four times the cost of the warranty for other accessories that won't help you as much, peace of mind.

Get it. You won't regret it. An amazing machine that you will enjoy every time. I don't think I will ever sell mine.

$12,500 is a great price. What year and color?

I got it. Pearl White (or whatever they called it) - 2018. It had 25 miles on it. Rode it home in spitting rain. Maybe it's like a wedding, rain is good luck?

My FIRST new bike. Ever. If I get as much enjoyment as I did out of my 2006 GS (which I bought in 2008 and sold in 2018) I will love it endlessly.

Frankly, I'm surprised by the power. Sure, I had a 1050 Sprint and have ridden modern sportbikes, but I didn't expect the Thruxton to be so fast. Not that I'm complaining. That torque is amazing! More than my GS had!

No, no no. Dont get it, crap bike, too heavy slow and handles like sh*#. That price... way too high.

Can't go wrong with any Triumph IMO. Finding a reputable dealer may be another matter. Where are you located? I avoid extra warranties and have never regretted it but that's your call.:smile2:

Welcome to the Thruxton R club! Love my 2016 silver ice! Can’t go wrong with a Triumph. Still have my ‘07’ Sprint 1050 and it still runs like day one.
Let the mods begin! Ha!

Congrats on the new Thrux R! $12500 for essentially brand new R is helluva deal!

I just got my Thruxton R for a similar price and mine had 300miles on it. I'm loving it so far.

Just buy a used one, like mine, or someone else's. I mean, I'd sell mine with $4K in mods and <3K miles for $9,500 and deliver it 300 miles if the buyer wanted, haha. Save tons. There's a ton of these on the used market. The vast majority are barely ridden. Why buy new? Makes no sense.

I totally agree. For me I drove 600 mi to get the one I wanted the flat black one because I couldn't find it in the price range I wanted and I wasn't comfortable giving someone 10 grand that live 6 hours away from me. can hindsight I should have ask around the forum a little bit and maybe I could have got a good deal.
