I need to tap into a switchable 12v source (turns on with ignition) in the front fairing portion.
Any advice on where I can find an source?

I love those lights. Best practice is to draw current directly from the battery to a 12 volt relay. Trigger the relay from the positive wire that powers the under-seat usb charger. The relay trigger dose not draw enough current to bother the bike's electrical system. Do not draw power for your lights by tapping directly into the fog light wires. That could cause problems.

Most important. You meed an in-line fuse on the positive wire leading from the positive side of the battery to the relay. Did you get a wiring harness from Clearwater with the lights? They probably have everything you need including an adjustable dimmer and an on-off switch. These lights draw 60 watts each on high. Watch this video on Youtube
