When I first got my Bonnie my neck and shoulders bothered me a good bit. I put risers on the stock bars thinking that would fix the problem. When I put my Parabellum shield on, the risers had to go. Again, neck and shoulders bothered me a bit after about an hour of riding. I loosened the bars and turned them up just a tiny bit and left them that way. After about 6 months I realized that my pains had disappeared and even after a sunup to sunset ride there were no problems.
I believe that the solution to a lot of these aches and pains is while you are breaking in your new Bonnie you also have to break in YOU. Give it a while longer. Same goes for the seat but I love the King/Queen for anything over 200 miles.

In my 35 years and over 18 street bikes, NO OTHER BIKE has been more problematic to fit than the Bonnie. It felt absolutely PERFECT on the showroom floor, it felt GREAT on the test ride, and on the way home it SUCKED!?!?!

Risers, no risers, M Bars, M Bars w/risers, Flanders' Clubman, "flat trackers", straight bars, upside-down bars, HD Sportster'S' bars.... aaaaaaah, nice.

Then I put rear-sets on. Went through the process all over again, settling on HD Night Train bars w/risers.

Frankly, I politely disagree.....
If it ain't working with one set of bars during a weekend outing, (unlike the factory seat) you WON'T get used to 'em.

My worst sore point on long rides was my rebuilt right shoulder. Riding and riding did not ease the pain. The risers did the trick. Rode for months with no problem on long rides. So then I took off the risers thinking I'll go back to the real look and feel. My shoulder hurt again. Risers are on for good now.

It is amazing how a small adjustment can make such a large improvement for certain uncomfortable areas.

I was wondering what kind of risers you installed please?

'SpeedyPete',
I believe my Black powder coated M-Bars (they looked soooo cool!) are in Ireland somewhere..... sold 'em, wish I had some to try with the rear sets.

(S)norton54,
Yeah, those risers were from one of the sources '5bassman' kindly provided. They made the factory bars feel like mini ApeHangers.....

You just gotta keep trying different combinations until you find the right one for you.... passing on your bars to fellow Rats to try for themselves.
