How many miles dd you guys get on your rear chain before you replaced it. How deep can you go into the adjustment before you need to replace the chain.

I've got 23,000 miles on my chain, sprockets still look good and the chain is about half way or more into the adjuster with maybe 2.5 lines left. So i'm in maybe 3.5 lines on the adjuster ref.

I measured 21 pins and came up with about 12.5 inches teh book says 12.63 inches is how far you can go. Just wonder how far you guys are going with these chains.

:) My wife's Thunderbird is still on the original chain and sprockets after 32,000 miles, and there is still loads of adjustment left, and the components are all in very good condition. I clean the chain with paraffin and lube with gear oil on a rag every 5 or 600 milles.

I got 30,000 miles on my first chain, but when it went, it wanted to be replaced right now. The teeth on the front sprocket were well hooked.

After that, I decided to replace chain and sprockets after 25,000 miles. I was a little late on the next one, too, but I do plan to stick with the 25,000 mile schedule.

Regards, Chuck

Changed my chain and sprockets at about 24K miles. Could have easily made it a few more thousand, so Charles is about right at 25K mile intervals.

For me the chain never really got too stretched or need adjusting all that often--I only remember having to adjust the chain 3-4 times--it was the sprockets that started hooking so I thought I might as well replace them. I do clean and lube the chain about every 300 miles (kerosene to clean, DuPont to lube), or after it rains, and in my experience, with this bike, all that really helped keep the chain in good shape.

I got about 24,000 miles on my first chain. It wasn't out of stretch tolerance, and the sprockets weren't too bad, but, I was getting some stiff spots in the chain and decided it was enough.

I don't rely on mileage alone to determine when my chain needs replacing. I base my decision on; Amount of adjustment left on chain tensioners and the condition of Both sprockets.

I replaced the chain at 17,000 miles, but it could easily have gone to 20,000 or more. The sprockets looked good, so I didn't change them this time.

Sprocket center is solid. I've had good experiences with them. Good products, good prices.

First chain lasted 25,000...second 15,000(reused sprockets)...third 22,000. I would love to know what you guys are using for lube. New chain/sprockets are a week old...and the chain already showing signs of rust

I got 42,000 out of my first chain with a hooked front sprocket. My second chain is at 33,000 and doing well so far.
I use a Loobman oiler, extremely simple reliable and easy to uinstall and use. $50 from Aerostich.

I tried cleaning the first chain with kerosene/paraffin every 1500 miles but this time I am just relying on clean 30 weight oil in the Loobman. No rust no wear. Lots of fling.

My chain and sprockets started making noise at 13,000. Like a knocking noise. Sprockets and chain must be replaced. Triumph Thruxton 2018. I checked it frequently, manual recommended check every 200 miles. Mat look into Auto oiler in other post.
