O or U rings?

Sorry for the delay. They are O-rings. Very hard and shrunken, providing no seal. The best replacement I've chosen to use is a Viton/FKM metric o-ring measuring 6mm ID, 10mm OD. Waiting for parts so no results to report at this time. I will report after running. I am very thankful for this forum. I will attempt to attach a photo at this time. No guarantee. Thanks to all of you.
JBW. Thanks for the picture and getting back with information. To me, the picture is slightly out of focus. Are you sure that is an O-ring or is it oval in cross section. I'm not saying you are wrong, but it can be difficult to tell, on worn and deformed rubber seals.
How is the Tee held to the pipe?
I appreciate your new to me, information. Looking forward to the conclusion.

The cross section of the seal is round. An O-ring. I don't know how the tee is secured. However, it is secured and is not leaking at that junction and I'm going to leave well enough alone for now. It may be bonded somehow for all I know. Any experience, anyone? Regarding the condition of the float tips/inlet needles as mentioned in previous posts - the tips looked fine. Actually, I was surprised how clean the interior of the carbs were - only a little brownish residue in the float bowls at the drain pockets - likely from the tank interior. ?? Later.

Carb Leak

The carbs no longer leak. I replaced the O-rings as described. I procured them from a local O-ring/seal supplier. The inlet needles were fine. As mentioned earlier, #26 seals are U-rings for vent tee. #24 tee is the actual fuel inlet tube with affixed "tee" (the diagram is deceiving). I procured one to see it, and it does not include the O-rings or the filter screen, in case you're wondering. Sorry this took so long but it took longer than anticipated to get parts and the weather was too lousy for me to be working on it anyway.

Thanks for putting this to bed and I'm happy your on the road.
I now know I have a set of vent tube U-rings.
Would you post the size of the offending O-rings?

The chosen O-rings are metric Viton/FKM, 10mm O.D., 6mm I.D. I hope they last awhile. If there is any upset I will inform. However, they felt good at installation (I used a light smear of assembly lube across the seals) and things are dry.

No other seals just the O-rings there and once you get the carbs out you unbolt the two barrs holding them together and pull the back side apart slightly and wiggle the pipe out change the rings and give them a very light smear of grease and wiggle it back together .
Did you have to disconnect 1 of the butterfly valves (the 2 screens that hold down the plates) to get the 2 carbs to separate?

I'm sorry for the delay in responding; you probably have it done by now. It's been over four years since I dealt with the issue but as I recall I did not tamper with the butterfly connections, but removed the choke linkage and the bar joining the two carbs. Spread the carbs apart gently and wiggle the tube out as previously described by chefobvmr. I hope this helps. As I mentioned, it's been over four years since I replaced the O-rings and there has been no further leakage. I hope you have the same success. Jim
