can someone explain the "cush drive" to me?

is it like a clutch drive or something? centrifugal?

Methinks I might need to service my cush drive as either it or the chain are no longer 'cushy'.

I took the slack out of the throttle a long time ago and switched up to an 05 throttle tube for the shortened twist. I'm thinking my chain is a bit gummy and my rubber bits in the swinger need serviced, lol.
