I'm pretty set on purchasing a new 2007 Bonneville. I've never bought a new motorcycle. Any advice on getting the most bang for my buck? How flexible are dealers on price, and are they willing to throw in extras (jacket, accessories) to sweeten the deal? I am looking for advice to put me in driver's seat, not the dealer. Is this a pipe dream? Thanks for your help.

my advice is to haggle out of setup fees, pay MSRP, and get some freebies thrown in; jacket, gloves, helmet, boots, etc. Remember that most of the accessories at the dealer are freakin' way overpriced (as far as apparel), but if your heart is set on that bonnie solo seat, or scrambler seat, flyscreen, etc, they should be able to throw that stuff in.

I'm in the same boat, my Dad and I are both thinking about getting new rides in the spring. If I were you I would go to Souther Power Sports in Tenn. They sell bikes under MSRP out the door! I may fly out there with my pops and road trip back to save the cash and make some memories.
Why wait 'til spring? Aren't dealers desperate to wheel-n-deal in the dead of winter?

That sounds like a good plan with your dad though. Good times. My old man has ridden forever, but he hadn't had a bike in a couple years until I bought the Bonnie. He bought an FJR 2 days after I bought the Bonnie.

I bought a new 2006 T100 10 days ago for $8500 out the door in California. This included 8.25% sales tax, motor vehicle fee, everything. Dealers want to move last year's stock if they still have any, so really all it took was a few phone calls to locate the bike and ask for the price. Not much haggling... we started at $8600 out the door. But do make sure you understand what it will take to drive it away. (One of the dealers in my area adds $770 "shipping and setup".)

BTW, this worked out great for me because I wanted a bike built in England. 2007's are assembled in Thailand.

Good luck!

I have to be honest... As a guy who is obcessed with having new "toys" which includes new cars... I beat myself up over this very same topic.

There are a lot of different opnions you will find from this Rat Pack, take a few minutes and do a couple of searches.

At the end of the day, I couldn't be happier with the purchase of my bike and while riding it, I don't even think about what I paid -- even if it were a couple hundred dollars more than I had hoped. Buying the bike is what counts. Getting it from a group of guys/dealership that you like/get a good vike from... is what it 's all about!

Thanks Matt + Team (Southbay Triumph).

Enjoy the ride....

just put the money down on a new 2007 T100. $9000 and %15 off of jacket and helmet. And yes, there was some haggling, but yes, I think the dealer and myself both got a good deal. Now I'm on my way to Wal-mart to see a man about some Hanes. :-D

Well, welcome to the world of uncertanties...

Here is how I see it, if the dealer think they have the upper hand on the sale, they will be willing to throw in up to $100 in accessories... Or let you add the accessories to the price of the bike, this matters if it is a loan that u r taking.

If you husle the dealer price to the ground, they will not be willing to give you an inch on anything else...

Drive far to a dealer on a dead town where no a lot of sales are happening and try to get the bike for MSRP out the door clean. If you can accomplish that, you did great, forget about accessories, you want to by the accessories that you like, not the ugly cheap ones that they will be willing to give you.

Find out at what time the dealer closes on Saturday which is the sales record date for most dealers. Show up 2 hours before close time. Work them on a sale for two hours, just dont push them too hard so they dont get up set. Once you have singed the papers and the deal is squared, then you have a change of heart and tell them u need to go hom and sleep on it.

The dealer will do the impossible just so that you will walk out the door with that bike.

It worked for me, I got them to give me the most expensive version of my bike for the MSRP of the cheaper version, but it back fired, I hate the bike. That is why I am here now learning about the triumphs...

Good luck, let us know what you get, I am about to jump the bridge myself...
