Hey all,

Recently I noticed a slight bumping sensation coming out of what feels like the rear end of my bonnie. I only notice it when I'm coasting in neutral as I'm slowing down, I suspect the bike's vibration covers it up otherwise.

It feels like it's something on the tire as it has a fairly long period and it slows down as I slow down. I've inspected as much as I can without a wrench or lift, and I'm not that mechanically inclined. No visual inconsistencies. Any thoughts? I'll probably take her in to a shop soon.

Things I would check:

Along with what Billy said, check for seized links in the chain. If one is slightly bound up it can cause this.

Some tires have defect and buldge so check your tire out good

Wheel out of true, with a high spot as opposed to a side to side wobble, if you can put it on a stand (like center stand) and rotate the wheel hold something against the rim and make sure the rim to what ever your holding stay in the same place

Slightly warped disc, it may be rubbing against the pads at the warp, you should hear it if this is the case

Scope your rear sprocket out too, if it has a bad tooth or bad spot on it it may cause a bump sensation.......did I say that????

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys. I've got a nice sunny day today so I'll head out and give her a good inspection. I suspect the chain might be the culprit, will let you know.

Thanks again!
