I don't know how many listees are aware of The British Motorcycle Fastener Database, but if you're looking for sizes, threads, etc for British motorcycle fasteners this is a great place to start.

Hosted and maintained by Greg Marsh Enterprises as a service to the vintage British motorcycling community, this database is an updated version of the fastener lists begun and formally hosted by the now defunct StainlessBits website.

Kudos to Greg Marsh Enterprises for making lookups in the database free and available to all. The database also has an add/edit mode available to registered users. Presumably user-generated data is reviewed by the webmaster.

The old StainlessBits lists were known to contain errors, at least some of which have hopefully been corrected in this newer version.

Hi Mick,

Was probably in the old StainlessBits/Link12 spreadsheet.

Greg can be emailed corrections on [email protected]

Hth.

Regards,
Hello Stuart,
The Stainless Bits speadsheet, at least the version I have, is correct for the E3717, but I note that Greg's listing had been amended, so someone probably thought they knew better!

I tell you - those pesky errors are everywhere! I assumed user-generated data would be monitored, but perhaps not. At least there is a way to contact Greg and hopefully have errors corrected.

Not only can you contact me with the errors you find, you are welcome to make an account and fix them yourselves. Any entry in the database that does not include a change date and changed by is what was in the Stainless Bits spreadsheets when I converted them to a live database (with permission). Since then, I check things as I work on bikes and fix them. For the last 2-3 years I've worked more on Norton than Triumph so I haven't made many Triumph changes lately.

You'll also notice a Part Database on the same page. Can you imagine typing in 40 parts manuals? I couldn't but I could imagine paying someone to do it so I did. With your account you can make comments but not edit the basic data - the effort was to represent the manuals as perfectly as possible.

You'll notice that there are no ads on my site other than the ability to buy parts from me. All information there is a public service.

Would a trader in Triumph spares be able to help?
The data must already exist in digital form?
How else do they keep track of spares?
Help what? The content of the 40 Parts manuals I have is already there. If someone has unit construction manuals that I don't already have and can provide them electronically I'll have them entered.

I recently noticed the parks book errors database - when I have time I'll look into doing something with that.
