Hi All,
Having ridden a 2006 Speedmaster since new I feel like a change to a E.F.I. model. I was contemplating buying a 2009 America. The only worry I have is the brakes. Twin disc v single disc. Has anyone ridden both and what can you tell me regarding stopping power. I am only 5'5" and 62 years of age and not as strong as a lot of you guys. Thanks in advance.:)

Can only speak for the America. I am 5' 9", 155lb. I have had no problems stopping and have had some quick stops, have put 15,000 on bike since Sep 07. I did replace the pads with EBCs. Somewhere I read about the conversion kit to add a second disc, I believe the article said not worth the expense.

The breaks on my America were a bit too touchy when it was new, now they are just perfect as they have worn in a bit.
I wouldnt be too concerned about breaking.
I am 200 lbs and have my wife on the back 99% of the time.

Hi, Thanks for the input guys. I was just being cautious on the brake question. After what you both said I will probably go for the America (Cheaper than the Speedmaster in Australia anyway).
Only have a bit more polishiong to do. Thanks again.
