I want to tell my lovely wife which Bonni windshield to get me for xmas - but have no idea what to tell her.
Any success stories would be appreciated. I would like a windshield for long day trips. Easily detachable. I'm 5'9". Is the one from the Triumph store any good?

Sorry, I don't really need a windshield here in TX. But I don't mind giving an opinion based only on looks... The summer screen looks cheezy as all get out! I'd get the roadster screen if I really needed one. Looks real good, but I doubt it's easily detachable.

I've tried the Triumph summer screen on a Bonnie with a stock seat and bars, and it sucked. I'm your height and it sent the wind right into my face/eyes. I get less wind from the Triumph fly screen on my bike. If you're looking for something to keep you out of the wind, you should go with something taller. For the money, I wouldn't go with a Triumph screen. You can get a better windscreen for less coin from National Cycles. They have several that work with the Bonnie, including some that have a quick release.

I've had bikes with both roadster and summer screens and they attach the same. Need a wrench, but not too hard to remove, two bolts on top and they use the headlight bolts on the bottom side. Ridden with both and took both off and sold them, but they did block the wind yet still got plenty of air just not direct blasts.
You can remove the screen without removing the brackets from under the triple tree. The brackets aren't really visible.

I Have A Roadster screen kit on my 2002 Bonneville I Called National Cycles In 2003 And all they had was a universal kit that used hose clamps to hold it on. by the way National Cycles makes the ROADSTER SCREEN for triumph. WATCH OUT FOR THE CHROME SCREWS STICKING. I REPLACED THE CHROME screws WITH STAINLESS AFTER ONE STUCK. GO FOR Comfort and do not worry what people tell you about looks.

THE one to get if you really want it to work, according to most who have tried it is the Parabellum Sport Shield. Ain't pretty but it works supposedly. I'm only 5'4" and use the National Cycle Street Shield EX. Once you fit the handlebar and fork clamps it comes on and off in a couple of minutes.

The shield reduces wind noise to almost nothing, which is the main reason I got it for my last bike (universal fitting) as I don't like earplugs and hate wind noise. For a taller person it'd still work OK I reckon, and messing with the tilt would probably give you a similar result to me.

It's not the prettiest windscreen in the world, but it looks OK to me and it's very practical. It also costs a LOT less than the official Triumph stuff.

EDIT: if you fit one of these, be careful to note the length of the stanchions that fit to the forks. As it's a universal fit, these are pretty long and I had to hacksaw mine down a little to avoid the extra length projecting too far back and scraping the side pods on my Virago. Dunno if I'd have had any issues with the originals on the Bonnie as the cut down stanchions are short enough not to be a problem.

I'm 5' 9" and very happy with my summer screen. As far a screens go, it doesn't look too bad. And yes, the wind does hit the top of my head a bit, but it didn't take me long to get used to it. I thought I'd take it off in the warmer months, but I like it too much. It stays on all the time. I can go on long rides without getting tired and when other riders are complaining about the cold, I'm usually just fine without much more gear. Only my legs get cold.

I personally like the Triumph summer screen, I'm 6 foot tall and expect to get a bit of wind bashing around my head but lets face I'm ridding a motorcycle. Over in the UK it gets very cold so the protection is pretty good. The quality of the screen is good with no vibrations. The chrome fittings are good but not what you would you would be slipping off and on very often and the overall look is very good. Bought mine on ebay having read previous revues on this site, that way at least your not paying too much for it. Still if your wife's paying who cares. Good luck and let us know how you got on.

I'm using the Roadster screen. I am 6'1". Took it off as soon as I got the bike home...didn't like it with stock bars.
With NB low cafe bars, I'm in a different position and it does help you to relax on a long road trip. I'm leaving it on to deal with the cold temps that are on the way.

I use the Roadshield from MRA.

You can buy it here for $75++.

Works well, easily adjustable without tools once you have it on as long as you use some sort of gasket between the clamps and the handlebars.

There are better looking sheilds out there but I doubt they would be as effective as this thing is at 85mph. IMHO any shield effectively ruins the esthetics of the bonnie but esthetics aren't really on my mind at 85mph either.

If you want the best, go with a Parabellum Scout fairing. Pricey, but you will probably never want to take it off--it's that good. I have rode with mine for over 12000 miles and I only take it off for maintenance on the front end. It comes off in about 5 minutes if you're slow--4 phillips screws hold it on.

I experience no turbulence or forces on the handlebars at any speed. At speed over 100 mph, it feels like sitting at the computer in an easy chair. I was surprised to find that with the Scout fairing I can ride 400 miles and feel less tired than I did riding 100 miles without it. Go to parabellum.com for more info.

I've tried the Street Shield EX and hated it. It captured side winds that really made my bike toss around. Plus it made a drone noise on my helmet that about drove me insane. I'm 5'6" (all muscle of course).

It just shows what works for one person does not always work with another.

I use a Givi 603. It is not small or big. For me it works great. It keeps the bike steady in high winds and is just large enough to stop my chest from being pushed back. Has many adjustments too.

You'll just have to see what works for you. I wish there was an easy way like having a bunch to try out and picking the one that is best.

I haven't put a windshield on the Triumph, and don't think I ever will, but I've had some experience with National Cycle and Givi on my SV. First I had a National Cycle F15 screen, and after a few weeks, it developed cracks from two of the four mounting points. The plexiglass was very thin, so I guess I'm not surprised. The Givi (I don't remember the model) is superb.

Very true! Even the type of helmet you wear is going to make a big difference as wind directed at certain parts of the helmet by a shield will have different sound and buffeting effects depending on the shape of the lid at that point, where the air vents are etc etc.

Probably the only way to go is look for something that's about the correct height and looks good to you, then if it doesn't work out in practical terms you can sell it on "as new" without losing too much cash. Good luck with your choice. If you find a screen that suits, you won't want to go back to riding a naked bike.

I dont run a windscreen but have considered it since it's turned colder...

If your the kind of person that want's the best, get the parabellum...I've never heard a bad thing about them.


If you want something functional and arent concerned with the above statement..check out Memphis Shades Hellcat

I think the one for the yamaha bolt's up...maybe the kawa.
