I have just replaced the wiring harness on my 2002 Bonneville and it went reasonably well except for one thing; the carb heater wiring "appears" to be too short. Compared with the old harness the two tails are the same length and emerge from the harness at the same point. Could someone with an earlier carb bike confirm that the wiring emerges from beneath the rear upper engine to frame mount or over it? I don't see what is wrong here except the routing of the harness. I know that I could extend them but that was the reason to replace the harness.
Any pictures would be great too.

Thanks, Jim.

The carb heater wires are a very tight stretch, but they will reach on my 2001. The right side is crazy tight and just barely makes it. The ONLY wire I have at the upper engine to frame mount is for the OPS. As best as I can see these wires are well behind the carbs coming down from the top along the front exterior of the airbox.

Thanks for your reply. The wires weren't tight before and I wish that I had taken photos prior to pulling the old harness. So do the wires not emerge from the harness that runs down the rear of the vertical spine of the frame?

Unfortunately I can not be certain of the routing. It appears to be adjacent the air box, under the carbs.

Yes, that is how my wires were run on my '02. They were not tight, and easy to take on & off. I removed the heaters and tucked the wires.
