I have an '09 Bonneville SE with about 17,000 miles on it. While doing about 80 mph the engine turns off without any prompt from me.

I have to pull in the clutch, flick the engine cutoff switch off and on then hit the start button and it will resume. All that while maintaining my position in traffic.

I rode for 4 days, about a 100 miles a day, and it only did it twice on the fourth day.

The idiot lights come on and the exhaust sounds like I am gradually down shifting. It is an EFI bike and it was recently serviced.

I used to wash it with a hose until I read these bikes are notorious for having electrical issues when washed in that manner.

Any thoughts?

I'd unplug and reconnect every electrical connector that you can find.

So despite all those air cooled cleverdicks berating water cooled postings in "their" section and saying how w-c mental faculties must be severely impaired, this happens. Something about glass houses and stone throwing springs to mind... :)
