On the lowest part of the side panel(panel under the seat that stretches to the tail light) there is a small gromet that has not phillips head cut in it. It doesnt look like a normal plastic pop rivet. Do I just pull til it comes out of the panel?

There is a centre bit that has to come out first. Push/Pull/Unscrew/Swear at/ it out and the whole river should come out easy.

If you do screw them up, you can pick up a pack of 10 of them from the Auto Parts store for around $2-$3. After you pull them off, they don't seem to reseat as well the second, third, fourth, .... time.
