I'm one of those weird folk who actually LIKES the factory "pod" of a tail lamp. In addition, I really like the art deco turn signal lenses too....

That said, my project Bonnie will have bobbed fenders, both front & rear. I found myself sneaking a peak at low profile tail lamps and sporty turn signals on newBonneville & BellaCorse last night. Before I spend a couple hundred dollars for a "plug-n-play", I'll hafta be convinced that my stock tail lamp will not look right on a bobbed rear fender.

Can anybody post a picture of a Bonnie with bobbed fender sporting either the stock tail lamp housing, or of a bonnie (w/bobbed fender) sporting an after-market tail light???

Anybody?

Thanks guys!

Ridge...... how do you do it?
Your images danm near jump outa the 'puter when you post 'em! It's uncanny how sharp, clear, and correctly lit they are. Do you ALWAYS use a TTL with fancy optics and off-camera flash????

First of all, I still like the factory 'Pod' as seen on sweatmachine's bike.
Secondly, I gotta know if those hand rails on the other bikes are Triumph or after-market (newBonneville?)?!?!?

(Ridge, whatcha gonna replace your tail lamp housing with?)

Thanks, Pat. The garage is really well lit so that helps a lot but I still use the on camera flash. And I do (of course) brighten things up a bit in Photoshop.

I've always liked the Lucas style tail light so I have one on the way. The new rear turnies will be the LSL's to match the front.

The rails on Lox's and my bike are Triumph. I was the idiot who bought both the sissy bar and grabrail from Triumph: paying twice for the same dresser bar...OUCH!

Ridge,
Those LSL's on your bike are really sanitary, I could learn to like those too. I'll be curious to see if I like the Lucas style tail lamp with your hand rail in place though. I kinda concluded that I liked sweatmachine's bobbed fender & 'Pod' best..... likely 'cause his package does not include a hand rail.

(Come on Ridge, that's not a pocketable point & shoot camera, and the optics must be good stuff too...... what kind of camera, lens, and focal length do you use?)

As I give more thought to this, both my rear AND front fenders will be bobbed. The very nature of trimming the bike down with abreviated fenders, almost begs for smaller signals and/or a smaller tail lamp. Hmmmm, maybe keeping my 'Pod' and going with shorter/smaller LSL's.....

Right you are about the camera. It's my wife's digital SLR, a Cannon 20D and a 17-85 zoom and on camera flash. Its a great camera but I have a long way to go in learning to use it.

My Lucas style light should be here in a few days, along with an LED license plate frame and tail light modulator. If everything shows up by Friday, I plan to have her done this weekend. I'll post a pic for ya when she is.

That looks like a "sparto" style taillight aka "limp dick". I wanted one of those lights for my thruxton (despite the name), but I can't get the right angle with the stock fender & seat. They look best when mounted on top of a fender or almost horizontal, otherwise they point their red lens at the ground.
