i have 2 questions...

First: How long does the bike have to sit to be considered storing it? I pull it out at least once a week, but when the snow flies it might be a little bit less. Should i still put stabill in it?

Second: Sometimes when i clutch the bike and give it a little gas to rev match it kind of chokes out for a second and the rpm's actually drop. Anyone know why this would happen?

My 2 cents:

If you start it and run it at least 50 miles without shutting off the engine once every 3 or 4 weeks, you do not need storage conditions, IMHO. That being said however, I would not hesitate, during the Winter months, to put stabil in the fuel tank if I lived further North--remember, you need to run the engine long enough with the stabil in for it to reach the carbs. You never know when you may be unable to ride for more than 5 weeks. I would NEVER start my bonnie and let it idle in cold weather to "warm" it up. I start it and ride, and I always try to ride at least 50 miles without shutting off the engine--this is for all WX conditions.

If your Thrux is completely warm--probably takes around 30 miles to get her completely warm--I would say the hesitation you're describing is due to the lean setting of the pilot screws. You should probably order a "D" tool for setting your pilot mixture--you'll no doubt want to tinker with the mixture sooner or later. :-D

Mine did that when the weather got below 60 also. I turned the pilot screw from 3 turns out to 2, and that seemed to do the trick. My Bonneville warms up quicker and it doesn't want to die right away after starting cold and giving it some gas.

I tend to agree with RedBird (but then I usually do), but with a few caveats. One, it's stored in a garage and not in exceedingly cold temps; two, you put the battery on an appropriate tender or charger at least once during that period. I don't leave the battery on a tender, but do hook it up overnight every couple of weeks. Three, drain the float bowls. I keep a length of fuel line and a clean tin can handy so I don't have an excuse not to drain the floats. And especially if you decide NOT to put Stabil in, draining the floats is really important if you might not be riding for 3-4 weeks.
