As some of you know I have been having problems with my S3 not starting. (See thread "won't turn over") I figured out that the clutch safety switch was the problem. So when it started up this afternoon I took if for a test ride. Not even 10 miles down the road at a red light, I saw something in my peripheral vision and then felt some heat on my left leg. Next thing I realize is the rear of the bike is in flames. I quickly got off and set it down, and watched it burn. I have some pics, but I don't know how to post them. Any help?

yeah it sucks, I had LSL Rear Sets on order, the single head lamp from Jack Lilley, and the Zard exhaust all on order and waiting for arrival. The Pazzo levers were brand new. I think I can salvage my clip ons and the brake lever.

Stop it! Just please STOP IT! No more carnage! No more crashes! No more fires! I command this!

At least you managed to exit the vehicle safely. I can sure sympathize. I had less than 150 miles on mine after a rebuild before my crash. It sucks!

Replace it. You have to replace it. I'm getting back in the saddle as soon as practical, and you should too.

ARRRGHHH! NO MORE!

Okay. I'm breathing. In. Out. Relax. Contemplate the infinite. Center self.

I'm feeling much better now.

wow that sucks!!! did you bring the bike home or did it get towed to a shop? if you are in possession of it take some gas and light up the original headlights. after burning them install them on the bike and disguise any signs of do it yourself wiring.

WOW. Sorry man, that blows. But on a lighter note, i smell an 07 speedy in your future. Glad you are ok.
...And you already have new rearsets, a headlight kit, and exhaust on the way. Not too bad if the insurance clears you for a new bike. Then you can reclaim the title as a salvage and part out what remains.

Sorry 'bout your bike, man. It pains my soul to see it like that. I think my butt actually puckered a little....

Hey Cheap,
There was a recall on some bikes a while ago regarding a fire starting in the engine somewhere, right? If I remember correctly it was a fuel line leak onto the distributor? or was it the alternator?
