Done..... for now. I think I want to sell off the black cans and replace them with some chrome cans. If I had to do it all over again, I would have approached the two-tone approach with black headers and chrome cans.

This job was made easy with an automatic wire stripper.... pretty cool. But more importantly I read about, searched for, and was about to order some on-line, until I found them at the automotive section of a distant store.......
lock it. with: Posi-Lock.
I used these connectors without having to do any soldering, VERY COOL!

Mini-fender side shot:

The Mini-fender's tail light is an LED cluster that doesn't seem to be the directional LED's of yesteryear. I think they're going to be conspicuous enough in the traffic at night:

I used the running lamps from off the front of an FZ1. They're already wired as turn signals AND running lamps. I decided to wire them in with my brake light to alert the cagers behind me (especially during the daylight hours) that I'm braking:

Black headers look great, but my reluctance stems from having been successful at preventing my pipes from bluing; they're virtually flawless. Otherwise, they woulda been black by now. Guess I'm gonna hafta keep an eye out for some inexpensive headers to paint or stumble onto another set of Predators (they're the 'best' don'cha-know...).

FattRat,
If you decide to go with black headers, I recently painted mine Satin Black and they turned out great, but do miss the chrome some. Maybe do an even trade. My blacks for your chrome! :)

I set out to install some NewBonnevilledotcom "Low Café Bars" last night (thanks sweat'!). My Thruxton tube pre-load adjusters were in the way though, D'OH! So while asleep, it occurred to me that if I simply turn them upside-down and mount them on my after-market risers, all would be good!

Once installed, I realized that lane-splitting ain't gonna happen if I add my bar-end mirrors to a set of already WIDE handlebars (31"). As good fortune would have it, I recently bought some mirrors from a fellow enthusiast. So I mounted them onto my black powder coated stems and stuck 'em on the bike. I have yet to see how well they work......

I'm really reluctant to take my D&D cans off right now, because I think I may have stumbled onto a 'fix' for them. So I want to put more miles on 'em before I praise my efforts. But what my mod'ed D&D's evolved from was a set of straight pipes I made last year. I want to put them on my bike to compliment the chrome mirrors I installed this morning. They have a set of Big City Thunder baffles installed, and I can run them in a variety of configurations:
straight through, JC Whitney louvered baffle in the end, and/or with a straight tip or my fish tails..... ranging from a respectable bark, to LOUD, to OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD (straight through w/fish tails)
My Big City Thunder longshots:

And then there was yesterday..... I took a break from working on the bikes and motored an hour away in the rain to see the introduction of a Ducati 1098 at Modesto Ducati. Besides, there was free Italian sausage sandwiches, pasta, umbrella girls, and folks who know one another from the various riding groups. Here it is being fired up:
Ducati 1098

Thanks for the offer to swap headers '5bassman', but I gotta hold out for some Predators I think.... (what do you think of the mirrors?).

And thanks guys for the compliments....... I wonder what I could do to doll up a Vespa 250?!?!!

(SCC, I just dropped them an email. Maybe they can hook me up with some tore up headers to paint)

Kudos fattdude, as usual you have shown off your talents to the rest of the motorcycle world.

Question, did you cut off the bottom of the fairing? Seems you did. was this for clearance of some unforeseen problem?

Steve, gears and such.

Spyder,
I had to trim the traditional 1/4 fairing because it just didn't look right on the bike. I'd like to mount it further back up & over the headlamp housing, but that's as far as she'll go..... checked it out today when I returned the factory reflector in place (w/a PIAA).

Yo Sweat'.... they didn't work out for me. Too radical a wrist angle upside-down, and they would be too high if I mounted them right-side-up on my risers. For those who are reading and interested, this is where I might ask Sweat' about the felt handlebar 'buzz'...... These bad boys buzzed my hands to sleep, very annoying. I can only presume that it was because they're sooooo wide, "harmonics" and stuff like that. Did they vibrate for you when you had 'em on YOUR bike????

The mirrors are gorgeous to look at, but I would rather see the entire village of idiots (cagers) around me, than just an isolated neighborhood. I had to take those off too and return my HD drag bars and bar-end mirrors on the bike.

Now.... about that mini fender:
I was proud of myself for having mounted a bracket to the mini fender. I used it to secure my wire harness up & outa the way. Imagine my disappointment upon seeing it hanging over my rear tire (after a 30 mile ride), broken away from the mini fender. The mini fender is pretty thick plastic..... kinda industrialNOT! Yes.... I may have tightened the bolt too tightly, none the less.... the plastic can be brittle judging from the way it broke away. If you tighten anything to it or secure it to the bike, use big fender washers and don't over-tighten things!

Fattrat, could you post pictures of the fender without the seat and show the connections? I have that fender and have been reluctant to install it because it really doesn't fit well. The fender is flat and the bracket to bolt it to is curved. Also how did you wire it? Were you able to use the existing gang plug or did you have to cut it off? I am hoping to retain the gang plug and replace the stock fender should I want to.

MAR,
I went out to take some pictures for you..... an hour ago. I discovered that my rear tire had rubbed my wiring harness. I tried routing it off to the side, but there was enough hanging directly above the tire that it was rubbing.

I used BOTH the ABS plate that NewBonneville sells and the Mini fender. During the last hour I drilled a 1" hole through the ABS & fender, and routed the wiring harness up through it.... now directly under the seat pan.
And frankly, I'm uncertain if I addressed my problem. I hafta go for a ride and see if I managed to clear the wirning harness (I hope!).

I used the same plug, connecting the wires to it via the 'Lock it' hardware I spoke of in an earlier post.

I've got a couple more pictures if you PM me with your email address.

Now.... I gotta get to that FZ1 and rip the tank off to gain access to the carbs that were jetted incorrectly.... dammit.

Well, it works.... nothing rubs, looks clean too. Someday I'll get out there and cut away the extra 12" of wiring harness coiled under the seat.

I included the below photo to show how I addressed the mismatched shapes of the fender & cross bar. I suppose a guy could just cut a slot in the fender to fit up into that cross bar on the rear of the bike, but I actually wanted to lower the fender. I added some rubber bushings such that the fender floats slightly below the mismatched surfaces. They're actually on the mounting hardware (bolts):
