Went to ride my bike today, the first time in about 3 weeks. It started fine and I rode it a short distance (3/4 mile) down to the local hardware store. When I can out it did not start. I could not bump it and had to ask somebody for a jump lead start. Started fine and went for a long ride on the shitty slippery roads. Put the battery on charge with the optimate as soon as I got home. The Triumph alarm probably flattened the battery.

Had a good ride though :-D

Kev,

It's odd that the battery could crank the engine when cold but not again when warm. Have you checked the negative connector on the battery to ensure it's tight? On the other hand, four years is a reasonable life for a battery.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago, bike started OK, then after a short stop a few miles away, wouldn't crank over, ended up buying a new battery as the battery never held charge for long after this (it was seven years old).
