Hey folks, cold mornings and a 4 year old battery leaves for some uneasy starting in the morning. Charging had little effect over the last few days.

Looking to replace the battery, question? Triumph stock the only way to go or are there other choices out there that folks would recommend?

Used K's links sticky page and surfed to:
Westco Battery $58 and shipping or so
and
Yuasa $60 and shipping

For those of you with opinions, Aftermarket or $100ish from the dealer?

Opinions/Experience appreciated.

Thanks much for the input folks, much appreciated, trying to find a Westco dealership in my area as I type this.

Thanks for the input $100 from Triumph seemed a bit over the top.... :???:

Westco battery was purchased, delievered for $65 dont know if its the best deal on the planet, but it will be here for Monday or Tuesday.

Sounded fine to me. Just hope I dont run into any starting issues on Sunday.

So... along the same lines, battery conditioners/tenders folks have a preference?

A bit late as you already opted for the Westco, but the original battery supplied by Triumph with the bike is a Yuasa, if you can get one for $60 instead of $100 from a dealer then that would've been a good deal.

Ah I see, the quote for the $100 from the dealer was not clear on who the supplier was.

I appreciate the information as I didnt know the brand actually after pulling the battery 3 times to put it on a seperate charger I never actually looked for the brand name on it.

I figured if folks had some relative good luck with the Westcos I would shoot for that, $65 and I dont have to drive someplace to get it. Good enough, as I have a million things to be doing this weekend.

I mention I love you guys! Thanks much for helping make my FIRST Triumph experience a great one. Having so many folks willing to give some insight is a great asset!

Speed3,

Have any recommendations for a specific battery Tender? I have been surfing for a bit now looking at all the adapters which can be used... not sure which one looks better at this point.

Still researching it, a tender sounds like a great idea, for now I had to rush the buy on the battery for fear of it leaving me stranded someplace.

Thanks again for the input folks.

I've just gone for an Optimate III for keeping my baby's charge topped up during the winter - sometimes I don't get out for a few weeks when the weather turns crappy.

I think the Optimate and Battery Tender are very similar in function. The Optimate seems to be a mostly UK product, and the Battery Tender a US. I got my Battery Tender Plus from here for 35 bucks + shipping. A bargain as it's advertized elsewhere for 50 +. I hook up the tender every time I park the bike at home to keep the batttery in top shape. I remove it and put it on the tender in the basement when winter hits.

I've been using a batter tender for about 8 years now, and have never had to replace a battery since then. I automatically hook it up to the bike whenever it goes in the garage. For around the $35 mentioned earlier, I think it's a great investment.

I shouldn't've said anything :( My battery died and I had to get it replaced (under warranty, fortunately). My battery tender must've hit the wall, so I'm tossing it out and buying a new charger. I hear the Optimate III is a better choice, so I'll probably go for one of those, although more expensive than the tender. Anyone know where a good deal can be had?
