Can anyone clue me in on why alot of bars wont let you take your helmet in??? It cant be because it could be used as a club.... hell.... a beer bottle is much more dangerous.

Anyone care to share?

I gotta get a helmet lock so I can leave it with my bike..... Im just too ***** paranoid about someone stealing it. Plus, I HATE riding without a helmet......

I don't drink when I ride my bike this time around. 20+ years ago on my '74 Trident I used to get wrecked and ride just about every night. Rode without a helmet, the whole 9 yards. I'm a bit older and hopefully, a little smarter. :hammer:

Yeah, I was kind of wondering about the drinking and riding thing myself.....(??) That's always puzzled me when I go by the bike bars and see people drinking beer and knowing they're gonna ride their motorcycle home.

Those certainly aint the healthiest two activities to combine.

Ask yourself, would you ride on the back of a friend's bike if he'd just put a few beers down?

Then why would you trust yourself?

My brain don't work too good without the addition of an anesthetic (alcohol). I wear my helmet to protect what function it does have. I don't drink because I can't afford to be any stupider than I already am.

Aaaaand due to my magnetic attraction with tarmac I think I'll be wearing my helmet and gear all the time from now on, thank you very much. If a bar won't let me carry that stuff in I really don't need to be going into that bar. Don't you think?

Their loss.

Last time I went in a bar with a helmet was in the 70's at a roadhouse on the back road from Ocala to Jax. I was with a buddy and we were stopping to have a beer and rest from a rough few days drinking and screwing around in Ocala. We put our helmets on the back of the juke box (YES, with actual records in it!) and proceeded to get on with the festivities. A few beers later somebody accidentally bumped the juke box and CRASH went both helmets through the glass into the belly of the box. I about shat! The bartender said no sweat, cleaned up the glass and put our helmets behind the bar for safekeeping. The juke box was OK and kept working so the party continued. Times change.
I liked it better then.

Next time I will tell you a story about another friend who came in a bar with me outside Gainesville with nothing on BUT a full coverage helmet and a Viet Cong's ear strung around his neck. Now THAT WAS FUN!!

also, just to clear it up.... I wasnt out getting sloshed. I had been riding around all night... literally. I decided to stop by Martini Ranch in Scottsdale to have A beer (yes, singular) and see the band they had playing. Actually a pretty good cover band and ***** that place was a meat market!!! Got some odd looks with my armored jacket and helmet hair..... everyone there was dressed like primadonnas

i got a helmet lock on the bars and in combo with the alarm set to nudge i figure by the time someone would try to yank it off the bike will be going off like crazy. some clubs out here dont let you take in those carabeaner things to hold your keys cause you could use them like brass knuckles.

and agreed on using a $500 helmet as a weapon. no way, id use my $3 beer bottle first hands down. and my gloves with the hard knuckles!

Alcohol begins to impair most people at .02 and the first thing to go is judgement, one of our most important skills.
We rest our case.
