I just replaced the stock rear fender with a Baja Designs fender and LED lights. You get the "fender delete" look while still being practical and catching all water and debris that the tire might kick up. Just thought I'd share with people what else they can do besides bobbing the fender and buying a total removal kit. Also a good bit cheaper than some of these fender delete kits from overseas and I can use both my single and dual seats. Thanks to the guys on here that told me about this fender mod.

Fender kit with LED running/brake light #60-0709 (you can get them seperate if you like)

Clear LED turn signals with stalks, hardware, and wiring #60-3028

License plate mounting kit. Optional but it made things a lot easier. #60-2070

You can also get non-LED turn signals as well as the above turn signals with smoked lenses. I think the clear ones better match the brake light and overall look of the bike though.

For all the wiring I retained the factory plugs to allow for quick disconnect and removal

Heres a picture under the seat. As you can see it is narrower than the factory fender. You have to drill the 4 holes on the fender to mount it.

You also have to drill holes on the sides for the turn signal lights. I'll get around to wrapping those wires so they're not exposed (note the water trail. It follows the middle of the fender. It's worth noting that even though the fender is skinnier than the stock unit, it still catches all the water and prevents it from getting under your seat)

There is a small gap between the new fender and the old mudguard which I left on. I'll jerry rig something to fill this gap, perhaps duct tape haha. It's really not a big deal to me if it looks funky underneath the seat but to some it might. As long as the underside of my seat stays clean and all the important equipment above the fender stays as dry as possible.

And here's the proof that the twin seat does work with this modification. Thought I'd add it for good measure.
I added some nylon washers in between the fender and the frame to lower the fender just enough to allow for clearance of both seats.

That looks great. Will I still prefer my MecaTwin kit aesthetically, that's a damn sight cheaper. Your kit looks far better with the dual seat than mine does.

Thank you. Yeah I really liked the mecatwin kit but I remember the price being a good amount more, however the main reason I didnt go with the MT was because of concern about water and debris. My last bike was a bobbed sportster and the fender was only a few inches long. Any amount of rain and it would get all over my back which became quite tiresome. The mecatwin would certainly block water much better than my sportster did I figured better safe than sorry. I do really like this look though and it's very nice being able to use both seats without any difference.
I'd love to run into someone with a mecatwin and compare side by side. I really love the look of MT's so I'd like to see how mine compares side by side.

EDIT: I was asked for a further back view showing the whole double seat and how it fits with this fender kit so I thought I'd post it here as well for everyone to see.
