I wonder if it has anything to do with being assembled in Taiwan.
I've learned that the 11th character in the VIN is the country the bike is assembled in; "T" being Taiwan...

I don't believe the standards at the triumph factory in Thailand are any lower than in the UK. It's the same quality control and assembly lines.

And I wouldn't let the knuckle draggers at the Triumph dealer in Calgary touch my bike. I found, when removing the headers to paint them black that they had broken the header bolt/stud when assembling the bike.:mad:

Yet another interesting and informative thread. I am in two minds about this situation, choosing to believe that the Thruxton will be just as reliable as the '00 VFR I had for 5 years/90,000km.

So it boils down to: buy the tools/diagnostic stuff and do-it-yourself (high initial purchase $$, but then waaay cheaper in the long run) or just take the bike to the dealer (@ $90 per hour). Hmmmmmm.......
