IMO, the IOM TT races is sum of the best race'n you'll ever see! :upthumb:

I think TT is the ultimate racing. Bikecams make pretty good video, too. Those road racers must have special seats custom-fitted to accomodate those huge bawls. :-D :-D :-D
Imagine running the IOM in the sixties on a Triumph or BSA! 110+ mph, skinny tires, drum brakes, half-helmet and goggles :wow: :wow:

If you guys want to know what IOM is like in the comfort of your own home... If you have a PS2 get Suzuki Superbikes TT it's all about the IOM... The course is GPSed and if the game is even close, what a B!tch it would be to race the course. 44ish mile loop... Many have died. I'd run it in a heartbeat.
I took my bike to this years TT and it was amazing, the racing is f#ckin nuts but that's just a small part of the event.
When the racing or practice is not happening every monkey & his uncle jump onto their bikes and ride the wheels off them. You promise yourself your going to take it easy then you see the "national speed limit sign" (ie no speed limit) & it all seems to go into warp factor 8! The only down side of the two weeks is the amount of serious crashes, this year there were three dead even before the racing started.
The man who probably said it best was David Jefferies who was the top man on the Island a few years ago untill he crashed there.
He has the words "Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing" chisled on his gravestone.

It's different cos it's raced on public roads. None of your namby pamby short circuits with loads of run-off. Proper racing for proper lunatics.

There's a whole raft of road racing, mainly in Ireland - they have their own series. IOM placings count towards their championship.

I was at the 2005 TT on a rented BMW R850R. I took a ride around the course on day when there was no racing. If you follow the race at all, it seems that a 100 MPH average lap is considered pretty good for a novice (the lap record is in the 127 mph range). I was able to get the BMW up to 100 mph once ( the downhill straight from Kate's Cottage to Creg ny Baa). Pretty humbling.
