Been having a look around and was wondering if there are many British Rocket pilots on here - most seem to be American.

Nothing against that, but I was looking for some feedback from Rocketeers with a UK perspective.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies guys. So excluding the ex-pats, that's just 3.

Anyway, I'm close to making a decision on a new Tribal Blue with full touring kit, similar to this:

I 've owned 3 Tigers and love the tall upright riding position. I also like to tour, including the Alps, Picos, Pyrennees etc. The Rocket would be an addition rather than a replacement bike. Perhaps (dare I say) a toy to begin with, but at the price it will have to provide much more satisfaction than that.

I'd really appreciate some "critical" feedback concerning general ownership and touring on such a beast. Does it do hairpins?

Thanks again

I did a tour to the Pyrennes through Andorra and into Aragon..more hairpins than you could shake a stick at.. The road to Pont D'Espagne has to have the MOST haipins than any road I've ever been on at least a dozen in 1 mile or so.
2 up, fully loaded in the pouring rain, feel like I can cope with anything now...Don't get me wrong I'd rather have been on a Tiger but the R3 coped....all that torque helps !!

Touring on the Rocket is easy. I rode mine from the uk down to Biaritz France. About 1800 miles in a week. No screens bum mats gold lame flares were needed. Just strapped a bag on the back and off I went. If you resist the temptation to blast about you can get impressive fuel figures. I got 47mpg

With regards to touring myself and my daughter had a trip to the Stella Alpina Rally (Italy) last year covering 2500miles . Longest day was coming home which was about 650 m , we could have gone on but bedtime was calling as my daughter is only nine !!
It made it to the refuge at the stella which is about 3000m on unmade roads with hairpins you wouldn`t believe but the bike behaved impecably.
here are some pics from 2001 to give you a flavour of the event.
