Hi,
Anybody changed the standard America bars for some thing narrower.
Read plenty about changing from Speedmaster to America but not the other way
All cables etc will be ok.
Checked out a 2012 America today and found Triumph have fitted narrower bars on this model.,and slightly higher.
The 2007 bars are 88 cm ,end to end the 2012 models are 83,
so 5cm narrower.
Asked how much for the 2012 bars, $245 Ouch.
Any one got a better fix for me.

handlebars

Hi TJohn,
I allready have the bike a 2007 America,
This is what I want the narrower bars for.
Just mentioned that the 2012 has the narrower bars now as standard.,and that was the qoute for a set.of 2012 bars to fit to my 2007 model.
Does anybody know where I can get some around 83 cm wide.
1 inch diameter. so I can bolt then straight on.
Tried heaps of sites but its impossible to tell whats going to right,
unless some body has done it.
Australia the land of the best weather and the biggest rip offs.
For example a Harley Night Rod 2013,$ 26490 here ride away.
In the USA $ 16,500. ten grand less.
Dont know what the Triumph prices are like, I have a mate over there who sells Harleys.

Yeah, I know, I'm from Canada ... I got them through Triump Detroit, they were very helpful. PM me, I'll let you know the name of my contact there.

Handle bar swap Speedmaster to America.

Hi ,
The change over went easy., just had to reroute the throttle cables.
Swapped a pair of throw over saddle bags for the bars and risers.
Feels much better with the narrower bars

Sleekmachine, I just checked out the bars that you recommended at Bellacourse and ordered them. I saw that you said you had to reroute your throttle cable. Where did you disconnect it in order to reroute it ?

Hi -

I got the BellaCorse highlander bars ... They allow me to sit more upright, I really like them. You'll have to re-route your wires and hoses though.
Sleekmachine, how did you route your wires and hoses? I've purchased the same bars for my America and can't seem to get the wires and hoses routed to give me enough slack. Do you possibly have pictures of how your cables are routed ?

I changed my handlebars and didn't have to reroute the cables. I had a 1 inch riser that I had to remove, but otherwise they fit well and feel great. Here's the difference between the stock bars and the new bars. I took the bike for a short ride after installing the new bars and it has a completely different feel that I think I'll come to appreciate.

Thanks for the compliment. When we had the house built I negotiated with my wife. She wanted a big kitchen and large bathroom and I got a 3+ car garage. What the heck, a guy has to have someplace to store and work on his toys.
