Where do I go for detailed instructions to get the carbs out and install my jets and shims?

NARK took about three hours to install, but I took my time and made sure every detail was correct.

I want to take it for a spin, but it probably won't run right until I take care of the carbs.

Thanks!

Pokeyjoe has it right sure enough. Usually I leave the carbs in place, but I popped them off yesterday, which is easy with the airbox gone. There is enough room that you can manoever the carbs out and access the underside without disconnecting any cables or wires with the airbox out. I had to do this to get at the pilots - I couldn't find my short flat bladed screwdriver.

I found it immediately after doing the job, of course.

Jetting Tip

Once you get the screws out of the carbs, replace them with the correct allen head bolts...this will make subsequent trips into the carbs a relative joy compared to dealing with the screws.

The usual bonny porn vendors all have these allen head kits for the carbs or you can find them for probably more $$ piece-wise at a good hardware store.

Also, make sure whatever shims you use on the needles are equal thickness...my thruxton came to me with one needle shimmed with a 0.025" shim and the other shimmed with a 0.050" shim!

Cheers,

Also, check out the "great source of info" sticky at the top of the forum, there are a lot of direct links there to tuning info, jetting, maintenance and modification tips.

Having said that, it is perfectly fine to ask the same questions again - new methods and ideas come up. It's what the forum is all about.

I wish I saw this post before the garbage man came. I'd would have given you the stock airbox and all the crap that was attached to it. I hope someone on here will send you one for next to nothing.

Got the Carbs done. The Jenks guide is very well written and I had no problems. Bike runs KILLER!:D
