hi guys,
our good friend johanna's brother has been home from iraq for a bit now and wanted to share a few photos he sent me. 'dre is a great guy with lots of stories about his (extended) stay ion iraq, and i thought i'd share just a couple of notes.
(there's a photo in the link here that has a guy standing in a blast hole. it was their job to find what kind of mortar did the damage - which they did find)

enjoy!
a day in the life...

Thanks for the pics. And tell Dre thanks for the service.

Those camel spiders are even creepier in person. They are wicked fast. And strong - a buddy of mine stomped one that was skittering around our camp once and the thing jumped back up and took off unfazed.

The lizard brought back memories too. The first time we found one of those I was poking at it with the barrel of my rifle and the thing bit down on it like a snapping turtle. I was able to lift it off the ground and swing him around without him letting go of that grip.

wow, i have to say i think i'm enjoying this the best from my computer chair. i'm pretty well versed in camping and extreme camping at that, but i'd have a hard time sleeping at night knowing the camel spiders were around!
glad you made it back ok. would love to see some pics sometime.

Much respect for our armed service. After seeing 'Flags of Our Fathers' I'm half glad I didn't sign up back in '98. You guys have to deal with a lot of $#!7 that would make many people crack.

Zoo,

Tell Dre that we used a q36 in bosnia for counter sniper operations. I f#ckin love those guys. Saved me a lot of work and made my job a helluva lot safer.
I noticed you live in san francisco. If you want to bring them over to downtown modesto, I work at the speakeasy and would gladly buy him a beer. If not, tell 'em thanks. Those things (q-36's) are worth their wieght in gold.
