Does anyone know of a starter moter for a 99 Legend that is cheaper than the $630.00 OEM??

Used starters pop up on eBay all the time. I bought a used starter from a '01 Speed Triple for my '98 TBS as a spare. The starters are identical in every way. I suspect a lot of commonality among the Daytona 955, S3, and Classic Trips ('95-'02). You can check part numbers between models on Bike Bandit to be sure.

FYI - got mine for $150 with supposedly 9,000 miles. Mileage doesn't always tell the story with wear, though.

Thanks guys - I'm taking it by a shop to see if they can replace the brushes - that's all that looks bad to me. If not Rick's has got a new one for $220.00 - beats the hell out of 650.00

I'd also recommend Ricks. I ordered a starter last Thursday and it was here (upstate NY) on Monday. $220 new including free ground shipping.
