There are adjustable ones and fixed-radius ones. For the Ohlins shock I used one of each - a 60mm outside diameter fixed and a larger adjustable.

Unless you can unload the rear wheel (Abba stand) there will be pressure on the spring and it will be difficult turning the ring. I was able to do it one tooth at a time with the big adjustable. Go easy a few turns makes a big difference.

1st clean with water and soap and the wipe
2nd use wd40 or some other penetrating oil and let it soak for a good 15 mins
Then loosen the top nut way back
Then adjust bottom nut..now easily moveable with a c Spanner
Then "friction tight" top not first by hand then with C Spanner
