Managed to try kickstarting my Daytona in 1st gear and something snapped, so the kickstart doesn't "grip". I opened the outer cover of the gearbox, and everything looks okay, so I suppose the problem lies in the kickstart spindle pawl plunger and spring assembly. To get there I have to remove the inner cover. However, to do this the owners manual says I also have to remove the whole gearbox assembly including removing the clutch.

I wonder if there is a way of removing the inner cover without the whole operation. Or is the whole gearbox assembly going to fall apart if I try? Inputs form anyone with an experience with this would be much appreciated.

Hi, no way around it, follow the book all of the gears and shafts in the trans are attached to the inner cover, then take off all the gears to get to kicker parts.

Thanks for the reply, Chris! Just had to check in any case. Looking forward to do this now. It'll be a new experience :)
