So I finally got to doing my first valve check at 45k miles (I bought it used with 43k during the summer). Getting to the valves was simple enough, except thats when I ran into my first problem.

I disconnected the lp fuel return no problem. When I went to disconnect the other fuel line, I noticed it was dripping fuel from the connecter on the tank....not good  So I quickly took the tank off and set it outside. Checked out the TB and cleaned them out including the stepper valve. Got to the valves, and suprisingly all the valves were in spec....I wa amazed. I can relax for another 12k miles :-D  :-D

After putting the tank back on and connecting everything, I noticed it was still dripping fuel from the connecter (a bit less since it was connected).

So my question is 1) could as simple as an o-ring? (For when it's connected); and 2) do only dealerships carry the replacement quick connecters? I guess I just need the female end that is fitted on the tank (the more left one).

My other problem was that the stalling problem is reaccuring again. Since it doesn't appear to be the stepper valve (we watched with the tank off), my buddy thinks that it's either dirty injectors or something with the map. The reason being that it seems like the injectors cut off for a split second as I let go of the throttle on high revs (as if I'm shifting). One thing we might try is bumping up the fuel a bit at idle.....

There is a recall on the tank fuel fittings.

As for the stalling, I had the same problem (on an 02 S3) but in my case it was the stepper motor. I had the dealer flash a new tune but they forgot to reset the stepper motor. When I would rev the engine it would stall after the revs came back down again.

Hey....luckily the previous owner replaced all the fittings with metal ones. So I'm assuming this one was changed too.

As far as the stepper motor, I will keep this in mind. I don't remember but does TuneBoy allow for this reset? I know we flashed in a new stock map right before I bought it.

Gonna look into that....thanks

Hi Iggy762,
I am no mechanic and I don't know about the tuneboy, I think it does everything except fetch the morning paper though.

Last time I was at my dealer one of the techs was telling me about an RS he was working on with your stalling issue and it was as 02S3 has said it was the stepper motor.

I don't even know what that is but that was the problem, of course I acted like I knew what he meant "oh yeah they do that" :)
