Hi all!

i recently picked up a new (to me) 2018 street triple and I’m loving it! Everything is however stock, and I’d like to add a tail tidy/fender eliminator. It seems most people are saying best kits are the Yoshimura, R&G Racing, and probably most of all the Evo Tech one (which I’ve found 2 different Evo Tech kits that both say they fit this exact bike, I’ll post links below hoping someone can advise).

Does anyone have experience with any of these (or other) tail tidy/fender eliminator kits? Any advice would be great!

here’s the two links for the two different Evo Tech tail tidy kits I found that both claim to be compatible with the 2018 Street Triple R - Maybe they both are? But does anyone have experience with either or any advice on how your co make this decision?

Evo Tech Kits:
1 - Tail Tidy Fender Eliminator by Evotech Performance

2 - EP Triumph Street Triple R Tail Tidy 2017 - 2019

Thank you very much in advance!

I have the EVO TECH tail tidy, item #1 on your list. Fits well and is sturdy item. You do have to disassemble the factory unit for the plate light and signals. If you decide to use aftermarket signals Motone makes great adapters for 8mm stud lights. EVO TECH also has nice radiator guard.

Thank you very much for this advice! I am looking to replace the lights with LED turn signals (not necessarily at the same time as the tail tidy, but possibly) - I appreciate you clarifying which one you have since I find it confusing that Evo Tech has two different kits for this model/year.
If it’s not too much to ask, could you please provide a link to the Motone adapters? Ask this info I’d greatly appreciated!

If you haven't already got one on the bike, I highly recommend a Radiator Guard as your 1st mod.
Evo Tech do a nice one.

A vid of my mods, at that point. Need to update the video honestly.

Could you please explain why you recommend a radiator guard? I’m just not really familiar with what benefits an aftermarket radiator guard provides, but I’m definitely open to it. Thanks!

Are you referring to these:

Or something else? I would like to add LED signals at the same time as the tail tidy kit, and want to ensure they’ll fit. Thank you so much! Awesome community here

Watch this video from 11:06 onwards... That's a brand new bike!

The Radiator is among the most delicate parts of a bike, that also happens to be a major impact point due to road debris being flung at it from the front tyre.

As in the video, it only takes 1 stone to put the bike out of commission at best.
At worst it might cause an accident...

A £50 Radiator Guard would have prevented this from every happening. In my opinion the manufacturers should fit them as standard.
This brand new BMW S1000R now needs a new rad, google how much one of them will set you back. (y)

Yes, they bolt right in and the stem is held in place by a set screw. Best to do both as same time.

My mate Tuono 1100 got a ride in the back of my van which involved a fairly late night round trip to where we were. But you do that for your good mates.

. . . Plus was probably from a stone spat out from my rear tyre,. . . so felt a little guilty.
I made up a guard straight after that. And just bought one for my 765.

best one is the Triumph accessory tail tidy, just leave out the center extension (need to grind off one locating tab to do it), it's super sturdy, I left off the license plate light and just glued the reflector in it's place, looks like this...
not sure it Triumph still offers it, I can look up the part number if you need it...

Here's my observations, both #1 and #2 will fit your 2018 STR3, the latter is an updated version of #1: The #1 was designed as a left and right clamshell assembly that customers mentioned the difficulty of aligning /assembling the unit, but were very happy with the unit once installed. The 18 page instructions was criticized as being too simplified/cryptic making assembly like figuring out a puzzle. EVO Tech redesigned/updated the tail tidy with #2 that used a top upper main assembly capped off from the bottom with the license plate bracket. This design make the wiring routing more visible and easier to install. Both units looks solid and well made, customers have rated the EVO Tech unit very highly. I have the R&G tail tidy and have been very satisfied with the looks/function. My aftermarket turn signals was an easy fit to a M8 thread post mount and did not need the Triumph (two bolt) turn signal adaptors. Good luck and enjoy your bike!

BTW, the updated #2 unit has a 38 page, fully illustrated instructions, an improvement over the #1 instructions.

Thank you for this, it’s something I never would’ve thought to buy, but not I definitely want one… Do you have one you’d recommend for my bike (street triple R 2018), or a brand/website you’d recommend? Evo Tech sells these and I was thinking of just getting one sent w the tail tidy since I think I’m going with theirs, would you recommend going a different route or do you think that’s fine? Again - really appreciate this!

Here's the R&G tail tidy:

Thank you a lot for the detailed explanation… it seems you did your research, so with your knowledge, would you go with the R&G kit again? If so I may go that route since it seems easier to install aftermarket lights without additional parts required and looks really nice on your bike haha. Do you feel it hides the wires as well as the Evo kit, or about the same? One selling point for me on the Evo were the cables being enclosed in the tail tidy the entire route from light to connector. Also, are those after market lights or did those come with the R&G tail tidy kit (or some version of it)?

007Plate.com has a universal real carbon fiber tail tidy thats also an electric plate flipper all in one. I've personally had it one 2 sport bikes so far and fit nicely on both

Only thing I didn't like about it is the price

Your questions are very thorough and in depth. I'll try to give you an objective response:

1. You are correct that the EVO Tech is probably the most "sealed" unit hiding all of the turn signal and license plate wiring internal to the plastic housing. Most owners like the sculpted molded plastic housing as it looks perhaps more integrated to the bike. The EVO also uses all of the original Triumph OEM wires/connectors as a plug and play scenario. The drawbacks might be the tighter wiring path and the mounting is designed for OEM Triumph turn signals (after market turn signal require mods and/or adaptor plates). Honestly, I think most people will choose the EVO because of the refined, enclosed/sealed/sculpted design.

2. Yes, I personally would buy the R&G unit again. It is a simpler, solid, all-metal steel construction with a nicely finished durable black powder-coat. The turn signal and license plate wiring is more exposed but I cover/reinforce all the external wires with additional layer of shrink-wrap leading into the bike. These wires are also tucked very tight to the bottom and IMO there is not much chance for real damage. The R&G can take the OEM Triumph turn signal mount (two holes) or can be used for the single hole aftermarket turn signal. I always planned to use after market turn signals and the R&G was fully flexible to mount the KOSO Led turn signal (see photo)
Automotive parking light Body jewelry Automotive lighting Natural material Jewellery

. The KOSO uses a M8 threaded post mount with male bullet connectors; you can change to bullet wiring or use a bullet to Triumph style adaptor. The KOSO are excellent, very bright turn signals, less costly than the Triumph branded LED turn signals offered a couple of years ago (probably made by KOSO for Triumph) IMO, the KOSOs are better than the R&G branded turn signals.

Whew, good luck, hope this helps.

This is sweet! Thanks for the recommendation! I never put plates on my first bike, this would’ve been a better idea lol.

You can't go wrong with Evo Tech.
