When this happens I'd like to recommend this place on US395 in Walker, CA as good place to ride for lunch. I've had the pulled pork sandwich and it's the best. It's only 60 miles from the lake and a loop back via Bridgeport might be a good ride.

There were two RAT Raids in the area a few years ago, we stayed at the Cal-Neva resort on the north end of the lake. One year was after Labor Day and the other before.

After Labor Day = Cooler but much less traffic
Before Labor Day = Warmer but a whole lotto traffic
Early June might get the jump on the vactioners, but Tahoe is a weekend destination year round for many Californians.
Lots of great riding nearby.
I'd be inclined to attend depending on work schedules.

Back on June 6, 2006, a Tuesday, after spending the night in Pollack Pines, CA, I rode over US50 to the Tahoe area. I made the mistake of turning north on rt89 on the west shore. I guess a lot of that area is park and so the speed limits were like 10 or 15 mph for much of the route. What wasn't parkland was summer cottage area and still posted slow. Cotton top tourist traffic was heavy and driving well below the speed limits. It was relief to get up to Truckee and get back up to speed.

I would definetly be interested in attending. Depends on dates. I think the North shore would be a great place to start the ride. The Hyatt Hotel in Incline Village area is really nice. Great Casino. Just a thought.

Having a Tiger Ride-In on Lake Tahoe doesn't appeal to me all that much as it is heavily infested with traffic, humanoids, and other impediments to Tigering. Maybe something north (up 89) or south (395, 89,4, etc.) would be more fun to ride out from- many side roads and mountain adventures. I know it would be more hassle than holing up at Cal-Neva or Income Village but one can always do the casino cruise around the lake with their buddies going there or back.

I seriously would consider a ride to CA but it all depends on dates, work schedules, and making plans way in advance.

The Hotel/Casino at Lake Topaz is a great location. It is close to some excellent mountain pass rides as well as some excellent desert rides. It's out of town if that is what you like. I think there is a camp ground on the shore of the lake.

I attended the two Rat Raids at CalNeva on the north shore. It seemed like a pretty good location and central to the rides that took place. There were rides to the south that took in Hwy's 88, 4 and what ever else they ride to the south. To the north some riders rode as far north as Lassen Park. Others went east to Virginia City and some just circled Tahoe Lake.

Interested

I purchased my Tiger (my first) in Reno last week and the ride home to Tacoma WA was great but hurried, I'd love an excuse to retrace the route at a more relaxed pace in warmer weather. If work schedule allows I'll be there, the soon details firm up the better chance I can make it. Of course my wife will be riding a Suzuki Marauder but she can ride between a couple of Tigers and no one will see her...LOL.

I started the Tiger Ride-In events as 'destination events' for Tiger riders to journey to the event and see some great country along the way; Arrive at the event and meet some fellow Tiger riders and terrific folks; Then head home with the thought ' this to is good'.

I can assure you, the ones who attend absolutely love it. Some folks ... who have never attended ... would rather find fault about something and give all the reasons why they won't show. I could care less.... the event is for those who attend.

It's only happened once... but when you see about 40-45 Tigers parked up & down the street..... that's nice! When you hear the 'knarly pitched sound of a group of Tigers winding their way up a montain pass... that is music. And when you take it off road onto a mountain 'goat trail' or forest path .... it's a kick! But most of all, when it's time to part and everyone recalls the great time they had..... that's a good feeling.

Life's a Journey ..... Don't Miss a Turn

It will be nice if most of us will post our departure time and route when the time comes, so that we might be able to meet up on the road to the event. It would be so cool to see teams of bikes coming in.

This sounds like a lot of fun! I've only had my tiger a few months, but I'm loving it! I might have to take speedfour's suggestion and put some stripes on my father-in-laws V Strom, he'e get a kick out of it.
