Hi guys
Lurking right now as still to collect a new bike. Was to be a Tiger XRx (crap roads here) but feel sure now to get a T120 Black. Whilst never owned a brand new Triumph, I've had 3 back in blighty.
1974 T140v
1961 Tiger cub Scrambler
1981 T140e

Triumph sales are booming over here and I am lucky to have a huge dealership so near to me (in Ubon). I tend to use a bike for a few weekends away (when it's not too hot) around Thailand/Canbodia& Laos plus attending many bike shows around Thailand.
Thoroughly enjoying the posts on how to spend my money on all sorts of goodies.
Ride safe
Dave (in Sisaket, N.E Thailand)

G'day Dave,
C'mon the roads aren't too bad...it's the road users and dogs sleeping on it that will kill ya!
Best money you'll spend on your Bonnie will be on suspension, brakes and tyres to handle the unexpected.
Lived there for 11 years running adventure tours from 92 to 03.
Back then there were no Triumph dealers but I was lucky to have a US imported 900cc Thunderbird...it didn't like summer time though.
Been over to do the Chiang mai-Mae Hong son loop?
That was my home road as we had a trekking shop in Chiang Mai but wife's village was just near Soppong, North of Pai.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Been up that way, Cuttlefish but it's on the 'to do list' on the new bike. The roads are getting a lot better now when compared to 10 years ago and the area you mention is a glorious place for bikers. I'm lucky to be so near the borders of Laos& Cambodia. The later is a very easy route for me. Riden over to Ankor Wat a few times. Will be checking out a few CM based manufacturers who specialize in Triumph parts in due course.
Cheers again. A great forum !

And...somewhere between Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai (if I remember correctly) there is a fantastic restaurant that has very good assortment of delicious western-styled pies.

No. C&C was on Sukhomvit Soi 12 in Bangkok (at least the one we would go to, when we had people in from DC, and the bosses wanted to take them out to a good restaurant). This place was on one of the roads from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. I only went there once, and wasn't driving, but remember being a little confused by the people I was with saying we were going to get pie. I'd been through language school, and lived in Thailand for 6 years, and just couldn't figure out what the hell they were talking about. One of the more famous regional foods up there is Khaw Soi, so that wasn't it, and the only other thing I could think up was that the Thai verb for "to go" can be mispronounced sound something like pie. I was racking my meager brain trying to figure it out as we were driving.

I certainly didn't want to look like an idiot by asking them what they meant, so imagine my surprise when we pulled into a small, typical restaurant looking place on one of the many rivers up there, and I walked through the door to see a display case full of...pies. The Dutch Apple was especially delicious.
