Hey from Chicago!

Graham here from Chicago. About to buy my first motorcycle, a Triumph Scrambler, from my father-in-law next week! Taking a road trip down to Florida to pick it up.

Starting in March we meet up every Wednesday at Holiday Club on Sheridan and Irving, we also have a booth at the International Motorcycle Show next weekend, and a few more events, Ton Up Chicago/59 Club Chicago. Come hang out with us !

Thanks for the kind welcome, everyone!

@taRgninruteR: Yeah, that's the plan. (#1) because I got my license two years ago and haven't been on a motorcycle since, and (#2) I earned my license in a parking lot... We'll be in Florida visiting my in-laws for a week, so there will be plenty of time to get back up to speed and start feeling comfortable riding.

A Triumph Scrambler or Bonneville has always been the goal, so I'm ecstatic to be picking up this bike soon. We're currently renting a cargo van because I'll be sharing the 18-hour journey with my wife who is uncomfortable driving with a trailer, so I'm hoping the van will have sufficient tie-down points.

I have done the cargo van thing, tie the front brake tight to bind the front wheel and angle it getting the back wheel up against the side of the van as possible. Assuming you will be coming back on 65, the hills through Tennessee into Kentucky might be a little nerve wracking with the bike in back but smooth and steady and you'll be fine.

Good to know! Curious, did you use a standard cargo van (Chevy express, et al)? I'm worried there won't be sufficient tie down points. I found a Ford dealer nearby who will rent me a Transit Connect wagon, but it has seats in the back and doesn't appear to have the same tie down anchors that the TC cargo version has. At least I know a Chevy Express will be large enough to hold the bike. It's just tying down that I'm worried about.
