Unhappy Dean

Hi everyone. Any body change the drive sprocket on a 1979 T140E before? I ordered a new chain and both sprockets. When I got the clutch basket out of the way and took the inspection cover off it allowed access to the nut and washer but now the gear is about 1/16 of an inch to big to fit through the inspection cover hole.
