I have a lift similar to this one in the photo.
Where is the best location under the engine to place the lift?
Presumably a piece of wood to disperse the load is advisable.
This would.be pretty much a trial and error situation. I would NOT however put any wood in there. I could see it easily slippimg out and dropping the bike. ...J.D.
That kind of lift would need be modified to work with T3oo type triumphs. You'd need to weld up a couple of straight pieces to the blue lift, and a couple of half moon bits to cradle the frame. Or a pit stand and bobbins.
If you're going to use wood blocks and such, bolt it all together.
There is no useful flat surface underneath to safely lift these bikes.
You might be better off investing in an Abbastand (abbastands.co.uk) which, after removing the swingarm pivot cover caps, allows the stand to lock into the bike and hold it firm and secure.
You can upgrade the unit to allow lifting both rear and front of the bike.
I have a unit with interchangeable bobbins that allow me to work on both my bitsa Hinckley Triumph and my Yamaha R1. Its the best system I have ever used.
A friend of mine bought the Abba stamd for his Ducati SS. Works well.
