I have a 1999 Sprint St and I am wondering if the factory digital clock is supposed to light up. If it is supposed to light, what is the fix to get it to light?
The clock on my '03 is illuminated - I'd guess there is no difference in the Gen I models.
IIRC, there is a little bulb that is almost completely inaccessible. You have to remove the front fairing to admire the placement of the darn thing, and maybe - just maybe you can get your fingers in there.
Thank you for the responses. I removed the mirrors, the 2 front windscreen screws and the nose cone. Access to the clock light is very easy after this. The bulb socket is made of a squishy rubber so it seals the bulb behind the clock. I pinched the socket and pulled it out of the clock. No one had the Triumph bulb so I found a bulb at an autoparts store and put it in and it works. The wattage is a few tenths less than the factory bulb but it seems to light up bright enough.
I have the bulbs for all the dash lights including the clock. They are so small and my sausage fingers can’t hold the so I use medical clamps or tweezers. Slippery little suckers. If you use led make sure to squeeze the socket a bit to keep bulb snug.
I thought about changing to LED. A brighter whiter light might be nice as well as giving the bike a more modern look, rather than the dingy yellow light of the regular bulbs.
Does anyone have pics of the gauges with LED lights? Also, a source for LED bulbs would be good too.
