Fuel conusmption max limits on a 2002 Sprint ST

223 miles fuel light comes on
267 miles run out of fuel

I got 44 miles when the light came on.

All Highway miles, at speed. Between 60 and 65mph

I had a 2 gallon gas can in my luggage to refill in the side of the road.

Did it early this morning to see how far I'd go.

Damn! The farthest I ever pushed my Sprint was 230 miles.

The 1050's have a countdown that starts whenever you start the bike. Watched it get down to 13 "miles to the next gas station" then go to all zeros..... that's when I started to worry because I was halfway down a 30 mile stretch when it happened.

Never ran that bike out of gas. Too heavy to push so it would have stayed where it died.

I was tooling around between towns, and had the spare fuel. Just wanted to really see how far on highway miles. Now we know!

Same here; the fuel light comes on at about 150 miles.
However, when I refill there always appears to be a good amount of fuel left in the tank, somewhere around a gallon and a half when I last calculated. Even at a conservative 40 mpg, that's another 60+ miles.

I really should learn to ignore the low-fuel light when it first illuminates and use only the odometer thereafter to gauge remaining fuel.

I was told when I bought it you only get 180 miles to a tank so didn’t think too much of it..that’s why I was so amazed at original post

5.5 gallon tank / 267 miles = 48.5 mpg (all highway within speed limit parameters)

47 miles between fuel light and complete dry = 1 gallon of fuel left in tank

When touring the refuel light comes on at about 180 - it gets 45mpg. I've never pushed it to its limits ... usually need a break anyway.

2002 Sprint RS: TOR silencer, LSL bars, Laminar lip, factory tail rack with Givi top box, custom painted OEM panniers (one of 'em anyway - sad story), M-Factory lowered pegs, Penske shock. Thanks for all the help, Kit!
