Unless you are independently wealthy you should begin turning a wrench or two yourself. I owned a '01 ST for awhile (bought new) and the only issue(s) I recall were: 1. Wiring Harness Recall (headstock) - was in the shop twice for this. 2. Fuel Fitting Recall. 3. Suspension Link-Shock Recall? Any dealer should be able to tell you if all of the recalls were performed, free of charge. Start here first.

ECM Codes? If the bike threw up a bunch all of the sudden that would indicate a basic electrical fault IMO. Clean all battery connections, frame grounds to start. Don't leave the plastic fuel tank sitting in the sun after removal as it will expand, making it difficult to reinstall. Always keep the battery fully charged using a smart charger like the Optimate, Battery Tender and others. Start collecting affordable tools, a manual or two. You know where this is going. Don't rely on shops, except as a last resort. Knowledge and satisfaction go hand in hand. Tools? I have 50 years worth, but no roll around Snap On boxes, not yet anyway. That 'Dream Garage' is still on the horizon!

Road Hazard..that is kinda what I’m trying to achieve...takes time effort and a lot of patience ( plus pennies)and I also have the dream garage in mind when I win euro millions...
Currently trying to put pennies aside to get a tablet so I can do this tune ecu.. I have got a cable and adapter from lonelec..😂 so I’m getting there slowly..as for taking the tank on/off..I can now do that in my sleep and the tank as the chipped paint where the crow bar as been to prove it 😂

If you have a laptop there's a version for Tune ECU you can download for free.
It's no longer being supported but it works.

I don’t have a computer Steve Ford and the tablet seems my best affordable option...
Looking at that file you sent me I guess when I plug the bike in it should tell me which of those three related to my bike it is running on and I go from there..be a few weeks before I get one unless I can sweet talk the missus 😳

Reading about tune ECU..your bike as to be able to start up and tick over on idle to sort TPS...
Mine will not be able to do that as I have to give it a bit of welly to start up or as you all say blip the throttle and then I have to hold throttle open..
So will that make tune ECU a bit useless in my sprints case🤔

You can check the TPS with just ignition on, it's not going to make any difference if engine running or not
We can talk more about it when you get the software operational.

p.s. no computer - what do you use to post on here? Phone or ???
(If phone I guess must be an Apple? If Android you can use TuneECU on that)

On the tank - can you insert forward screw first and leverage from the rear (where any scratches won't be seen under seat)
Maybe too late for that ...........

Keep your eye on this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-G...frcectupt=true

That's the one I have - it's a nice machine!

(no affiliation with seller of course and no actual knowledge of its condition)

This one looks decent at 90 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-G...1%7C1#viTabs_0

(doesn't appear to have charger but if you had Galaxy phone, you maybe still have one - it's same, up to S6 anyway)

Hopefully I should have a tablet next week with a bit of luck and can start sorting through what I suspect to be quite a few faults/problems
