Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for a few weeks. I recently bought a 2003 Sprint ST in Aston green. It has some mods: OEM tall windscreen, OEM panniers, Givi top case, heated grips and frame sliders. I absolutely love this bike and it has been my dream bike ever since I saw one. It has taken some getting used to from my Kawasaki Ninja 500. I'm only 5'4" and 130lbs so the bike is tall and heavy compared to what I'm used to. Obviously it also has a much more powerful engine and brakes. I am considering lowering it perhaps an inch. I've searched through many threads and am debating whether I should try to flip the eccentric or use a lowering link. I'd like to hear others opinions. I also think I have an aftermarket seat, perhaps Corbin. I did notice the stock seat seems to be sculpted on the sides for the thighs, and maybe a stock seat would be better for me. I've been keeping on eye on ebay for a cheap one since I may try to sculpt it a bit more.
I do not have a shop manual yet, but I will get one soon.
When stopped on level pavement, I'm tippy toed. I'm worried about dropping the bike if there is a dip in the pavement. I don't think much about standing on one foot with a tall, but light weight dirt bike, nor my Ninja 500 anymore, but this bike is a good 100lbs heavier than the Ninja. I will be devastated if I drop it.
I've also been thinking about getting a pair of the Daytona M Star boots with the built up sole. My feet are too big for the Lady Star version, lol! These might be a better investment than lowering my bike because they would allow me to also ride other tall/heavy bikes. Anyone here have these?
