2011 and up best suspension settings?

I've got a 2011 S3 and I've played with the clickers and cannot make the rear end feel any softer than riding a hard tail! It is terrible. My back is taking a beating and any little bump in the road is bucking me up. Hitting a bump in a fast sweeper is nearly death!

Looking for help with anyone who has a decent baseline setting for stock suspension, primarily for the rear end.

I'm 170 lbs without gear and a fast canyon carver.

You aren't alone with this experience. I've heard others say that it's harsh. To me, it's too soft since I'm over 250.

You should call an outfit like RaceTech to find out what can be done to soften up your ride and make it safer. You may want to re valve or get new springs.

I'm taking mine in for service soon, mechanic said he'd help me setup the suspension too although, judging from what other threads say you need to swap springs/oil etc to make it a good ride. I'll let you know how it goes, I'm around 160 pounds last I checked.

If you have a lot of miles on the bike the suspension linkage could of ceased? A lot of people around here stated it comes poorly lubed from the factory.

Itís the compression stroke that causes the shock to the back. Once the preload and sag are set for your weight then I will be softer. Iím in the same boat as Iím chasing the perfect set up. Not like the old days when bikes were squishy and looking for way stiffer set up. Mechanic will set you in right direction.

You reckon you'll replace springs/oil? I've been looking at the racetech upgrade, a lot of people seem to praise that company. Unfortunately I don't really have one near me.

Found this on racetechs website, just the front suspension parts they recommend are $1000..

"FORK
The stock fork cartridge on the Speed Triple is one of the poorest designs we've ever seen. The forks cavitate massively and because they push a huge amount of fluid through tiny ports, they are extremely harsh. They have very soft springs so they dive a lot too.

Our solution for the forks is the G2-R Fork Gold Valve Kit. The outstanding kit completely replaces the stock compression and rebound mechanisms and in turn makes the forks work awesome. With the G2-R Gold Valve Kit and the proper High Performance Forks Springs installed, the Speed Triple is completely transformed.

SHOCK
The rear shock is made of high quality material. The problem is setup. Once the shock Gold Valve Kit and proper spring are installed the shocks performance is as good or better than anything in the world. guaranteed!"

I have no skin in the game with Race Tech. I actually have used a lesser known name that is close to me and does great work and is a bit more affordable. But, Race Tech does come highly recommended by those in the business. They aren't the only game, but they are a known source.

With Race Tech, I still recommend calling them. They have less expensive options.

But, here are other options.

GP Suspension in California
Traxxion Dynamics
WP Suspension

Our suspension can be improved without getting new. You can rebuild, change springs, different fluid. It all depends on your weight and riding style. It helps to talk with them.

There are also local shops that can be used too. If you're in California, there is one shop that I DON'T recommend. I won't say the name unless you PM me.

Thanks for the recommendations, not on the west coast though. Going to try to setup the stock hopefully this weekend.

When the manual states 1 turn out is that 360 degrees or 1 click?

I've owned my 2011 bike since new and tried everything but nothing seems to work. I even bought an ohlins rear shock which although improved matters slightly the difference wasn't enough to justify the cost. I think this model is just a harsh ride full stop. I know logic says you should be able to sort it one way or another; however, I haven't found anyone who can. Shame because other than that it's a great bike.
