New Bike

07 Speed Triple Green (for now)
Went through the wiring harness and checked all fuses and relays. (Relays in wrong spots, explains why headlights wont work...)
New front and rear blinkers.
Polished rear sets.
Order new engine covers, fork rebuild kit and fork rebuild tool set, slip on.
Take sexy pictures with bike smiling for the camera (pre blinkers). Love it baby.

Note: I realize theres no exhaust. Sometimes you gotta take what you get. GPR system ordered.

Speedy Russ, Dad and BTX6006 like this.

ride hard, but remember... wen your frame sliders hit the ground, downshifting to slow usually doesn't work

What did you do to your speed triple?

Well after a couple weeks of down time ... got her back on the road with some improvements.

1-- got a new front tire installed ... the previous bt23 was pretty worn out from the edges and was time for a change which was replaced with a new bridgestone T30x to match the recently replaced rear tire. still scrubbing both.

2-- installed a the apex manufacturing 4" rise clip-ons ... i got these from a member here a few weeks back and was waiting to do some maintenance on the forks to install. The bike looks so much cleaner without the bar risers and stock bar out of the way... I adjusted them to about 3" lower from the stock bar position and enough clearance from the tank and flyscreen.

3-- finally after a couple weeks of painful wait and no riding, I got the front forks back from RACETECH since my seals had been leaking and i wanted to install the clip ons I bit the bullet and got the forks rebuilt tuned and sprung to my weight by Racetech (I live within 5 miles from their headquarters) I CANNOT BOW DOWN ENOUGH TO WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO MY SUSPENSION... It is a new bike and I have not even ridden hard -- (only went out for a test ride and had to be careful with the brand new front tire) ... I ride pretty spirited i guess you could say and I have never in my 4 years of owning this bike felt so confident and in control of the front end .. it feels really solid and with the clip-ons down feels much more agile and easier to turn in.

if anyone is thinking about doing any suspension mods... without a doubt DO IT... you wont regret it.

with that said Happy riding everyone... stay safe ... I will be scrubbing some rubber on my local canyons.

That Race Tech stuff is the business! Next up for mine too.

Got home from work this morning and planned to clean and adjust the chain before I had a shower.

Seven hours later I've cleaned and adjusted the chain, repainted the headers, repainted the cans, fitted a crank case breather, lubed the rear linkages and got the dremel out and wire brushed and polished all the engine case bolts and any other bolts that were showing corrosion.... and ordered a seal set.

F*#%k that day just vanished. Still haven't had a shower. Beer but.

Speedy Russ and Al'Speed3X like this.

Man I just rode it. I rotate between my four bikes on my commutes to work but when it's the Speedy's turn, it's just amazing. It's not the best over bumps but it is so rewarding to ride, and confidence-inspiring. I rode my ZRX 1200R on Weds, and it's a hoot. But riding the Speedy, I always get off it saying "I love that thing."

I probably need an intervention because of the bikes that keep 'following' me home. Current garage:
2001 Daytona 955i, 2 yes two, 2003 Sprint 955i STs (spouse rides one), 2016 Speed Triple, 2001 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R

@Red Baron ,

Did you run into any issues swapping out the European headlight control? Were there any unexpected things you needed or was it plug and play? I will be ordering it soon as well, I assume you bought it from worldoftriumph?

Switched to LED indicators and switched to Narva 68425 (non load sensitive) Flasher repay. I actually prefer the OEM indicators but not @ $81 each.
Replaced numberplate light bulb, missing Bellypan upper strut and missing 3 x nylon washers on battery cover. Also replaced the headstock to Airbox seal (was totally shot).
Also replaced gear selector front of linkage seal / cush (Then found the rear one was toast as well... doh !). Not a major issue but it'll take another 3-6 weeks to get the part in.....
