Question Shorai LiFe Battery Review

Received my Shorai LiFe Battery today from TwinWorksFactory Racing - WoW!

Here are the preliminary observations:
The video pretty much tells the story

One thing I should have added directly in video - the headlight (etc) load during the 10 minute 'soak' I would estimate at ~ 150W.
The 10 minutes was a purely arbitrary number - figured that was a pretty good soak and not sure how well at all my AGM would have stood up to that!!
Similarly for the 10 cycle test, also purely arbitrary; I got the feeling could have done significant number more.

Initial impressions as soon as received the shipment were extremely positive.

It is hard to conceptualize just how compact & light-weight this really is until you hold in your hand, evident as soon as you pick up the shipping box!
Just under 0.75 kg (1.7 lbs) for the 14 - even lighter for the smaller capacity ones.

Then when you open the Shorai Product carton, you find the battery packed with an array of adhesive foam pads - which both protect the product for shipping and also provide padding to fill the additional OEM space. Nice touch to have this included.
And also a 'spare' set of Terminal bolts!

Size comparison vs my SVR AGM (which was - and still is! - an excellent battery itself)

Looks like an EXCELLENT battery and at reasonable price. Too bad I got a fresh Yuasa a few month ago. If I knew about Shorai, it would of been a no brainer.

I am seriously impressed with this little baby!
And should not need to hook up Battery Tender - this is good feature for those who might have to park bike outside for extended periods.

Chopped knuckles & Telviking - Check with Zoran at the link in first post guys - he may well ship W/Wide - he normally does with all his other parts, at actual cost.
And recognize these things only weigh about 0.75 kg so nothing like shipping Lead-Acid battery!
Shorai has great warranty too and checking that, it still applies if you are overseas but purchase from US vendor - just have to pay shipping costs.

Quote:
The warranty is a pro-rated policy, divided into three periods from date of purchase.
Coverage is as follows:
Month ................................ 1~6 .... 7~12 .... 13~24
Discount from msrp .......... 100% ... 75% ....... 50%

In cases where Shorai products are purchased within North America but delivered to countries outside the United States, Canada, and Mexico, return shipping charges may apply even for warranty-replacement cases. In our response to your online claim submission, we will advise potential shipping costs, in such cases.

No - I wish they were publicly traded - I'd be all over that!
Think they have a real winner there.

I just get excited by something new in the technology field that really changes the shape of things (figuratively speaking - although I guess literally in this case too!)

No - it's not Lead-Acid at all, completely different technology
Lithium Iron Phosphate - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium...sphate_battery
The only similarity with an AGM is it is a 'sealed' battery.

For the '14' model I got, 210 CCA

You can put up to the same charging current as the model designation
i.e. for the model I got, that means 14A
The more current you stuff in there, the faster it charges.
It will charge a depleted battery in 20 mins at the full current rate.

But probably does not even require to have a Battery Tender on it, even for bikes that are ridden much - extremely slow self-discharge rate due to very low internal resistance.
