  1. "Barn" 2001 Sprint ST What have I missed?

    Sprint Forum
The jump from 0 oil pressure to even half throttle is bad, should it start... but also the EFI system expects the engine to start only on pilot air. Next steps: new plugs, starter fluid and checking into the spark question - maybe with new plugs.
  2. "Barn" 2001 Sprint ST What have I missed?

    Sprint Forum
So, I picked up another 2001 Sprint ST. The bike has low miles but it has issues. Here's the story: The bike was ridden sparingly last year, and stored in a heated garage in the country - I believe with the cover on. The bike was started, ridden on a test ride and stalled. It would not restart...

I fitted up some front-end light improvements, from New Bonneville.com, the following went on: LED idiot lights ( aside from the high beam indicator, which they show as stock on the website, with good reason, the others would be blinding at night, a bright bright blue one might get you pulled...

Not today, but yesterday and the previous Saturday: Sat: Pulled the racks, seat, battery, rear shocks, and yanked the giant plastic airbox out. Then pulled off the stock exhaust, replaced with freeflow exhaust ( Need to fix the side stand contact still. ) New batteries on both triumphs...
  6. Bonnie won't start...

    Air Cooled Twins Technical Talk
If you get good voltage, which you should have, and the relay is going, I think that rules out the side stand interlock switch, but you can always lube that to be sure. You can likely bump start it in second gear if there is power to the coils & plugs . If you have any trepidation on this...

    Welcome! (wrong thread, but hi!)
  8. It's times like these that really heighten my love of chain drive

Ohiorider, do you also own a Mercedes 300TD from, say, the mid-80's? Those are the only thing I can think of that will go so far w/o major work (providing you don't live where they salt the roads). Shaft drive... 122K / $750 = 0.006147 per mile Chain drive... 12K / $200 = 0.016666667 per mile...
  9. S3 riders diss the bonnie!

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
I voted for the "odd" triple owner option as I have owned my 2001 Sprint ST much longer than my Bonnie. The ST isn't quite as radical as the S3 but at 104hp stock, is all the bike you need for triple-digit speed without really thinking about it... I test-rode a monster before I bought my ST...

Forchetto, what make is that grab rail you have mounted there? I have one on my brother-in-law's bike but I don't know what brand it is, since it was there when I got the bike for him. The side-holes were empty on his, so I mounted up some steel spacers and large flat washers to make bungie hooks.

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
LC, welcome to the board, that is some nice work there. I was looking at the pics and I see a couple of things I don't understand fully.... One: the exhaust looks like it is mounted together with external springs or bolts - to vary the packing in the tube easily? To bring more spring slap to...
  12. Is there a way to relocate the passenger footpegs?

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
Also, is it possible the bags are mis-mounted? I don't recall others having this issue?
  13. Is there a way to relocate the passenger footpegs?

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
The standard pegs are though-bolt mounts with locating pins to keep them aligned properly for folding ( so they don't rotate and fold down, which would be very very bad ). I don't think you will be able to relocate them without replacing the pegs with an aftermarket peg and, sadly, fabbing a...

The part of the stand that reaches out for boot tips for deployment is fairly bendable, I would expect it to all be the same metal; it is one piece. I would be careful if you bend it out, directly away from the center line, it'll hit your exhausts if they are anywhere near the standard...
  15. Seat Transfer

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
My stock seat has a triumph logo imprinted on it. A good many people on here have used gold or silver (fabric?) paints to pop it out - my seat was done by the previous owner. I have a Corbin solo on it now, no logo on it.
  16. How do I check VIN / bike's history?

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
I would write to Triumph NZ, directly, they have access to all the build records and such. Triumph US was very helpful when I was in touch with them a number of years ago. I expect you will find the same with Triumph NZ. Good luck! Oh, and post us up some pics! We love to drool over pretty bikes!

Could it be locked to the headlight mount (drilling a hole) or would it look horrible?

  19. newbonneville.com verdict in:sucky service over all.

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
I've had good dealings with newbonneville, even as far as buying things directly from Brent and even with back-ordered parts, questions were answered and parts shipped when available. As far as the poster who is asking them to watch for a change in a product, I think it is up to you to keep...
  20. New age Bonneville the Japanese way = BAD ASS(pics)

    Air Cooled Twins Talk
Rodburner, have you looked at the possibility of fabricating a hugger for the rear wheel of the Bonnie? It looks like there is plenty of room on the top of the swing arm to mount to; I'm trying to picture it in my head, your very empty back end looks like the machine to photoshop on. I'm mostly...
