globaltimoto RTW since 2003 on TB 900 still going

Hello all

I've been on the road with a Thunderbird 900 going around the world since 2003.

On occasion I've visited this website for support whilst stuck with a problem in a desert or other inhospitable place.

I thought it was high time I posted a few stories here.

These first two are from my trip today crossing from Cambodia to Laos, but as time goes on I'll post a few retro trips that have got some real gumption in them to be sure. That is if anyone actually finds the story interesting.

Departing Cambodia without a temporary vehicle permit

Entering Laos with a Carnet de Passage

Thanks, and made possible in Cairns, Australia when I noticed a spare 17" rear wheel off a Tiger of the same era, just leaning against a shelf at Wayne Leonard's Motorcycles stock room.

Wheel slotted straight on and voila, bad ass Heidenau K60 Scouts that chewed up the dirt through Hell's Gate and beyond without a glitch. These tyres have the best grip I've experienced on tar, wet and dry, so all round amazing really.

The current pair have been on from Cairns > East Timor > Indonesia > Malaysia > Thailand > Cambodia > Laos for 40k Miles and still have some tread left above the wear markers. Given the extra baggage load I carry around, that's also pretty amazing I think.
